  1. 1st among ranked online RN to BSN programs

    University of Florida

Gainesville, FL · Public Fully online $4,477 annual in-state tuition 91% institutional graduation rate 235 degrees a year 91.8 score
All 90 required clinical hours are built to work around a nurse who is already employed: 45 come through virtual simulation in the first semester, and the other 45 come from a population health project the student carries out in a zip code they choose near where they already live.

The University of Florida College of Nursing runs its RN to BSN track through UF Online as a part-time, 100% online program for registered nurses who already hold an associate degree in nursing and are actively practicing. Admission requires an ASN from an ACEN-accredited program, a GPA of 2.8 or higher in all nursing (NUR) coursework from the school that awarded that degree, and an active, unencumbered Florida RN license or enhanced licensure through the Nurse Licensure Compact. Upper-division and second bachelor's applicants must also be enrolled in or have finished a set of prerequisites with a grade of C or better, including Anatomy & Physiology One and Two at 4 credits each with labs, Microbiology at 4 credits with a lab, Statistics, Human Growth and Development or Developmental Psychology, and Human Nutrition. Students must satisfy State of Florida General Education requirements as well, and anyone admitted without an AA degree takes those general education courses on top of the nursing coursework. Admissions open every spring and fall.

The clinical requirement is 90 hours, and the page is specific about how they are earned. Forty-five hours come in the first semester through virtual simulation in NUR 3066C: Health Assessment. The other 45 come in the fourth semester through NUR 4636C: Population Health, where the student picks a zip code near their current location, travels there over the course of the semester, and builds a clinical project out of informal observations of that community. The curriculum is aimed at leadership, evidence-based practice, and information management, and the page positions the degree as a foundation for graduate-level nursing study. The program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing, and the baccalaureate program at the UF College of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

    University of Florida-Online

Gainesville, FL · Public Fully online $3,358 annual in-state tuition 85% institutional graduation rate 65 degrees a year 90.1 score
The 90 required clinical hours are split in two halves that work differently: 45 come from virtual simulation in the first semester, and 45 come from a fourth-semester population health project the student builds around a zip code they choose near where they live.

UF Online's RN to BSN is a part-time completion track for nurses who already hold an associate degree in nursing and are actively practicing. Coursework is 100% online and delivered entirely through UF Online, and admissions are offered every spring and fall. Applicants need an active, unencumbered Florida RN license or enhanced licensure through the Nurse Licensure Compact, an associate degree in nursing from an ACEN-accredited program, and a GPA of 2.8 or higher in all nursing (NUR) coursework. Upper-division and second bachelor's applicants must also show enrollment in or completion of a prerequisite set, each course passed with a C or better: Anatomy & Physiology One and Two at four credits each with labs, Microbiology at four credits with a lab, three credits of statistics, human nutrition, human growth and development or developmental psychology, a psychology, social psychology or sociology course, and a second science course in biology, chemistry or physics.

The curriculum requires 90 clinical hours, split across two courses. Forty-five are earned in the first semester in NUR 3066C: Health Assessment through virtual simulation. The other 45 come in the fourth semester in NUR 4636C: Population Health, where students choose a zip code near their current location, travel there throughout the semester, and complete a clinical project drawn from their informal observations of that community. Students must also meet State of Florida General Education course requirements; anyone admitted without an AA degree, or who does not meet UF transfer admissions requirements, takes those general education courses in addition to the nursing coursework. Every admitted nursing student completes a background check, immunization verification, fingerprinting and drug screening, and must provide proof of current health insurance. The baccalaureate program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

    Riverside College of Health Careers

Newport News, VA · Private nonprofit Fully online $14,000 annual in-state tuition 100% institutional graduation rate 29 degrees a year 85.8 score
Riverside lets students still in the last semester of an affiliated associate-degree nursing program enroll concurrently in the RN-to-BSN track, and routes its three practicum courses through the student's own community or workplace rather than an assigned clinical site.

Riverside College of Health Sciences runs its RN-to-BSN as an entirely online completion program for nurses who already hold an associate degree (ADN, AAS, AOS) or a diploma in Professional Nursing plus a current, unencumbered RN license in Virginia or a Compact state. There is no pre-admission test. Four general education prerequisites must be finished before you apply: English Composition (3 credits), Anatomy and Physiology I and II with lab (8), Developmental Psychology (3), and Microbiology with lab (4), for 18 credits total. Another 24 credits of general education can be completed before or during the program. The degree totals 120 credit hours, of which 38 are taught by Riverside (28 theory, 4 project work, 6 upper-level general education) and 40 are granted for prior nursing education and licensure. Core program tuition is listed at $12,300 with $200 in post-enrollment fees, plus estimates of $1,435 for books and $1,200 for computer supplies; Riverside College alumni get a 10% discount and Riverside Health System employees 20%, and the two can be combined.

All theory coursework is online, and three of the ten courses include integrated, independent practicum components that students may complete in their own community or work setting. The calendar runs two 16-week semesters, each split into two 8-week sessions, plus an 8-week summer semester, and completion takes 12 months full-time to 24 months part-time depending on course load and remaining general education co-requisites. Coursework covers community impact, nurse leadership roles, inter-professional communication, and evidence-based practice, and the program states that it prepares graduates for graduate study in nursing. The baccalaureate program holds Initial Accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN); the institution is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools and certified by SCHEV to operate in Virginia. Because the college participates in NC-SARA, the program is open to students living in other SARA member states.

    University of North Carolina Wilmington

Wilmington, NC · Public Fully online $4,443 annual in-state tuition 71% institutional graduation rate 775 degrees a year 82.2 score
Admission is continuous with six start dates a year, and the 30-credit curriculum is delivered as a sequence of seven-week online courses that a full-time student can finish in as few as 12 months.

UNCW's School of Nursing offers its RN-to-BSN entirely online, with no required campus visits. The curriculum is 30 credit hours built from nine core nursing courses plus one elective, taught in seven-week terms. Coursework covers health assessment for registered nurses, gerontological nursing, community health nursing, pathophysiology and evidence-based practice, and core concepts of leadership and management, and it ends with a two-credit capstone in which students synthesize nursing theory and practice experiences and document their transition to the baccalaureate-prepared RN role. Admission runs continuously across six terms a year (Fall 1 and 2, Spring 1 and 2, and Summer 1 and 2) so a student can start within a couple of months of applying. Students carrying a full-time load can complete the degree in as few as 12 months; the program's own FAQ puts the typical range at 12 to 18 months depending on transfer credits and enrollment pace.

Applicants need a current, valid and unencumbered RN license, an associate degree in nursing from an accredited institution, a minimum 2.4 cumulative college GPA, and official transcripts from every institution attended. Enrollment is not limited to North Carolina; the program states it is open to nurses in most U.S. states, with in-state tuition reserved for North Carolina residents. Instead of scheduled clinical rotations, the program uses practice experiences: experiential learning in any setting where health care is delivered or health is influenced, spanning both direct and indirect care activities that affect health outcomes. Estimated total tuition and fees at 2026-27 rates, assuming part-time enrollment, are $6,500.40 for in-state residents and $29,874.30 for out-of-state residents. The baccalaureate nursing programs at UNCW are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. UNCW also runs Try Teal, which lets Cape Fear Community College ADN students take two UNCW RN-BSN courses at no cost and earn conditional admission to the program.

    Carolinas College of Health Sciences

Charlotte, NC · Public Fully online $17,892 annual in-state tuition 100% institutional graduation rate 25 degrees a year 81.6 score
Carolinas College reviews all previous coursework for transfer credit regardless of when it was taken, with no date limits, and runs a Fair Transfer Promise partnership with North Carolina community colleges.

The RN-BSN program at Carolinas College of Health Sciences is 100% online and built for practicing RNs, which the page says allows students to work full time while meeting their educational goals. It can be completed in as few as 12 to 18 months. Admission takes three things: a completed application submitted by the deadline, college transcripts showing a minimum 2.25 cumulative GPA, and proof of a current, unencumbered RN license. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Coursework combines higher-level general education with nursing courses. Upper-level general education completed at other institutions may be eligible for transfer credit, evaluated after an accepted student has paid the deposit, and the college reviews all previous coursework for transfer regardless of when the course was taken, with no date limits. A Fair Transfer Promise partnership with North Carolina community colleges is aimed at nursing graduates moving on to the bachelor's. The college is owned by Atrium Health, and eligible Atrium Health teammates may receive financial reimbursement for approved academic courses through the Educational Assistance program. The program starts three times a year, with priority deadlines of March 1 for the August start, July 1 for January, and November 1 for May.

    Oklahoma State University-Main Campus

Stillwater, OK · Public Fully online $5,417 annual in-state tuition 68% institutional graduation rate 33 degrees a year 79.7 score
Non-resident transfer students who bring at least 45 earned transfer hours into the RN to BSN qualify for a waiver that reduces their tuition to the in-state rate, one of only three OSU online bachelor's degrees the waiver covers.

Oklahoma State's RN to BSN is a completion degree open only to transfer students who already hold an associate degree or diploma in nursing and a current, unrestricted RN license. Coursework is delivered 100 percent online through Canvas, OSU's learning platform, in eight-week blocks, with new cohorts starting every fall, spring and summer semester. Students enrolled full time take two to three courses every eight weeks and finish in two to three semesters; part-time students take one course every eight weeks and finish in four to six. The school puts the fastest path at 9 to 12 months. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Admission runs as two separate decisions, one to OSU as a transfer student and one to the RN to BSN program. Applicants need a cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale across all college coursework and must list their RN license number, from Oklahoma or their designated state of residence, on the admissions application. Nurses in the final semester of an associate degree who have not yet completed the RN exam can be admitted conditionally and submit a final official transcript after graduation. Priority deadlines are February 1 for summer and fall and October 15 for spring, and nursing students from OSU-OKC and OSU-IT are granted priority, provisional admission. The RN license plus the associate degree or diploma carries 30 hours of advanced standing credit toward the 120-hour degree. Nursing coursework covers theory, global health, research and community nursing, plus culture, leadership and management principles and current trends and issues in the profession, and the program ends in a capstone course. OSU encourages finishing prerequisites before starting nursing coursework, and warns that beginning nursing courses first can extend time to degree.

    California State University-Long Beach

Long Beach, CA · Public Fully online $6,084 annual in-state tuition 69% institutional graduation rate 174 degrees a year 79.4 score
All of the program's clinical work sits in a single 90-hour population health course at a site the student picks and the School of Nursing approves, and ADN students at Long Beach City College can start CSULB nursing courses before they finish their associate degree through a concurrent enrollment agreement.

California State University, Long Beach runs its RN to BSN through the university's College of Professional and Continuing Education as a fully online, asynchronous degree for nurses who already hold an ADN and a California RN license. Courses run in eight-week sessions, two each in fall and spring and one in summer, and the program takes 12 to 18 months: part-time in roughly 18 months, or full-time within one year. The nursing core is 26 units across eight NRSG courses at $600 per unit, or $15,600 for the nursing coursework. The BSN itself requires 120 units total with up to 70 eligible for transfer, so a student who arrives short on general education pays for those additional classes on top of that figure. Someone carrying six units per term, meaning one course per eight-week session, should plan on at least 18 hours of work a week.

Clinical work is concentrated in one course rather than spread across the curriculum. NRSG 406, Population Health, is a five-unit clinical course carrying 90 clinical hours, taken toward the end of the sequence; students select their own site subject to School of Nursing approval and complete the hours in person near home, scheduled around that site's availability. Admission requires California residency, graduation from a regionally and nationally accredited ADN program, an active unrestricted California RN license or eligibility for one by the time classes begin, a 2.75 GPA in all required ADN coursework with no grade below a C, and 70 transferable units including the "Magic Four" of critical thinking, oral communication, written communication, and math, plus anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry with lab, and statistics. Students must also clear a criminal background check and drug screen. The program is not open to F-1 international students. Nurses studying at Long Beach City College can get a head start: a concurrent enrollment agreement lets them take one CSULB nursing course per semester while still enrolled in the ADN program, leaving one to two semesters of BSN work after the associate degree is finished.

    Charter Oak State College

New Britain, CT · Public Fully online $7,896 annual in-state tuition 67% institutional graduation rate 29 degrees a year 76.5 score
Charter Oak separates credit for your RN license from transfer credit for unfinished RN-to-BSN coursework.

Your RN license can account for up to 64 credits toward the 120-credit degree. If you've already started an RN-to-BSN elsewhere, Charter Oak permits two equivalent courses to transfer with nursing-director approval. Get those decisions before comparing how much coursework remains.

The online curriculum connects research and population health with quality improvement and systems leadership, then moves through capstone preparation into the nursing capstone. Six start dates give you several entry points. Admission uses a 2.3 GPA calculated from the nursing program of study. Check the posted state-enrollment restrictions before applying, and ask an advisor to distinguish license credit from the courses you'll take.

    Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania

Slippery Rock, PA · Public Online $7,716 annual in-state tuition 66% institutional graduation rate 25 degrees a year 76.2 score
The three-credit nursing elective can be met with graduate-numbered courses, including NURS 511 Advanced Healthcare Informatics, NURS 514 Bioterrorism and Disaster Management: The Nurse's Role, and NURS 516 Nursing for Palliative and End-of-Life Issues.

Slippery Rock University's RN-BSN is a CCNE-accredited online degree completion program for nurses who already hold RN licensure. Admission takes three things: completion of a pre-licensure nursing program, meaning an RN diploma or associate degree; an active unrestricted Registered Nurse license; and a 2.0 GPA in previous academic work. The major itself is 30 credits, sitting inside the 120 credits SRU requires for any undergraduate degree, alongside 42 credits of Rock Studies 2 requirements and 48 credits of electives. Both major GPA and overall GPA must stay at 2.0 or higher, and every nursing course in the major must be passed with a C or better.

The 30 credits split into 21 credits of required nursing courses, 3 credits of nursing electives, and 6 credits of supportive coursework. The supportive requirement pairs an ethics course, either PHIL 325 Medical/Health Care Ethics or HCAM 375 Ethics & Legal Fundamentals for the Health Professions, with a statistics course, either INDP 317 Statistics for the Social Sciences or STAT 152 Elementary Statistics. Required nursing courses run from NURS 311 Introduction to Health Care Informatics and NURS 331 Evidence-Based Health Assessment & Promotion through NURS 422 Nursing Research & Evidence-Based Practice, NURS 426 Community and Public Health Nursing, and NURS 434 Leadership and Management in Nursing with Practice Experience. The elective menu is wide, with sixteen options spanning teaching and learning, health policy, case management, financial management and transcultural awareness. SRU states the program meets the requirements for certification in Pennsylvania and advises applicants elsewhere to check their own state licensing board.

    Florida Gateway College

Lake City, FL · Public Fully online $2,369 annual in-state tuition 54% institutional graduation rate 40 degrees a year 76.2 score
Florida Gateway College lets a nurse begin the RN-BSN without a current license in hand, provided licensure is completed before the end of the first minimester.

Florida Gateway College runs its BSN as a completion program for nurses who already hold an associate degree in nursing. The degree totals 121 credits counting the associate degree, of which 30 upper-division credits make up the completion work itself. Classes are delivered fully online, and the upper-division core is laid out across three semesters of 12, 12, and 7 credit hours, moving from nursing theory, pathophysiology, research and informatics, and health care policy into pharmacology, ethics and legal issues, and nursing assessment, then closing with community health and leadership and management. The baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Students are admitted twice a year, in fall and spring, and applications are accepted year-round. As with every FGC bachelor's degree, graduation also carries a foreign language requirement and the statewide civic literacy requirement.

Admission requires an Associate of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited college and a current, valid, unrestricted, unencumbered Florida RN license, though the college allows a student to start without the license as long as it is completed before the end of the first minimester. Applicants need a C or better in every general education requirement and a 2.5 GPA across their ASDN prerequisites, and they submit two applications, a paragraph on their reasons for pursuing the BSN, one signed professional letter of recommendation, a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support or American Red Cross card, a brief resume, and transcripts from every college other than FGC. A Level II background check, a 10-panel drug screen, and an alcohol test must clear before clinical placement. FGC publishes three tuition rates for the program: $120.33 per credit hour in state, $126.35 for Georgia residents, and $264.44 for non-residents, which come to estimated totals of $5,835, $6,021, and $10,302 once $545 in lab fees and $1,560 in textbooks are added.

Eastern Florida's online RN-to-BSN includes a capstone practicum built around the student's interests in their local community.

Eastern Florida describes an 18-month part-time RN-to-BSN pathway for working nurses. Eligible students can receive up to 42 credits for core ADN coursework toward the 120-credit degree. The remaining requirements depend on the transfer record, rather than a promise that every ADN graduate has the same classes left.

The coursework is online, with a capstone practicum developed around the student's interests in their local community. Final-semester ADN students may apply, creating a route to plan bachelor's study before associate-degree graduation. They must hold the required Florida RN license before starting upper-division nursing courses. That license deadline and the local capstone distinguish the entry process from an entirely remote, open-start course sequence.

SUU grants 30 of the 120 credit hours the degree requires during the very first nursing course — 20 lower-division hours for having passed the NCLEX and 10 upper-division hours through Prior Learning Assessment.

Southern Utah University's RN to BSN is a post-licensure completion program delivered online through SUU's online campus. The nursing core is 10 courses totaling 30 credit hours, each running 7 weeks, with 6 start dates a year and asynchronous coursework. The degree itself requires 120 credit hours, but licensed RNs do not start from zero: SUU awards 20 lower-division credit hours for successful completion of the NCLEX and 10 upper-division credit hours through Prior Learning Assessment, both granted during the first course, NURS 3141, and 50 of the 60 required general education hours may be block transferred. The overview lists completion in as few as 10 months, while the page's own FAQ says most students finish in 12 to 18 months while working full time.

Tuition is $315 per credit hour, or $945 per course and $9,450 for the nursing core, includes all fees, and is paid by the course; the page notes total tuition may vary if additional courses are needed. Admission requires an online application, official transcripts, an undergraduate cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or 2.5 in the last 60 hours), and a valid, unencumbered RN license, with the license plus a drug screen and background check through PreCheck due no later than the end of NURS 3141. The page lists no separate clinical placement; instead practice-based learning is embedded in three courses, where students meet weekly with a client 65 or older in NURS 4341, either volunteer in a community setting or run a health education project in NURS 4351, and spend 15 hours on a personal development project plus 30 hours building a quality improvement project in their own work setting in NURS 4551. The baccalaureate degree is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and SUU points applicants to a program map to check whether the program is available in their state.

University of North Carolina at Greensboro

Greensboro, NC · Public Fully online $4,422 annual in-state tuition 56% institutional graduation rate 235 degrees a year 75 score
UNCG's RN to BSN pathway runs entirely online with no campus visits required, sets no prerequisite courses, and can be finished in as little as 12 to 24 months depending on how many transfer credits are approved.

UNCG's School of Nursing runs the RN to BSN pathway for nurses who are already licensed. Students must hold a current, active, unrestricted RN license in North Carolina or in a state covered by the multi-state Nurse Licensure Compact before enrolling in the required nursing courses, and must keep that license active the entire time they are enrolled in those courses. University admission asks for a cumulative 2.0 GPA from all previously attended higher education institutions. The program sets no prerequisite courses, though it strongly recommends a college-level statistics course and requires students who have not already taken one to complete it to fulfill their degree requirements. College-level transfer credits are evaluated case by case, and the school offers a transcript review with an RN to BSN specialist before you apply.

Coursework is 100% online with no campus visits required, though enrolled students can still use campus study areas and the library if they want to. Completion runs as little as 12 to 24 months, depending on how many transfer credits are approved and how many credits remain to graduate, and students balancing other commitments can take longer. Applications are due August 1 for fall entry and December 1 for spring. Online students have access to academic advisors, student success advisors and technical support, and the school holds information sessions for prospective students every Wednesday at 10 a.m. or 3 p.m.

Every plan of study carries the same $12,000 estimated tuition, so a nurse who spreads the 30 credits across four semesters pays what a nurse who finishes in two pays.

The University of Utah College of Nursing offers the RN to BS as an online track within its Bachelor of Science in Nursing, built for licensed registered nurses who already hold an associate degree. The degree takes 30 credits and is delivered asynchronously. Students choose a two-, three-, or four-semester plan of study, and semesters run consecutively through fall, spring, and summer, so a nurse on the shortest plan finishes in under a year. The course list is the same in all three plans: Role Transitions, Health Promotion and Clinical Prevention, Information Technology and Evidence-based Practice, Health Systems and Populations I and II, Assessing Health Indicators, Clinical Applications of Research and EBP, Leadership, and one upper-division elective. The shorter plans stack more credits per term, with the two-semester track carrying 16 credits in the first semester and 14 in the second.

The college puts total tuition and mandatory student fees at $12,000 for the two-, three-, and four-semester plans alike. That estimate is drawn from the 2025-2026 College of Nursing tuition table and excludes possible program and course fees, books, supplies, and travel; the university charges resident rates only during summer semesters. Licensure timing depends on which plan a student picks: two-semester students must have passed the NCLEX before starting, while three- and four-semester students have until the end of their first semester. Applications open three times a year, running April 1 to June 1 for fall, September 2 to November 1 for spring, and December 1 to March 1 for summer. Amanda Keddington, DNP, MSN Ed, RN, directs the RN-BS program.

UMW runs a concurrent enrollment plan with Germanna Community College that admits GCC nursing students into the BSN completion program while they are still finishing their associate degree, so the liberal arts coursework can be taken before licensure and the nursing courses begin once the RN license is in hand.

The University of Mary Washington's BSN Completion Program is a post-licensure degree built for registered nurses who already hold an associate degree or a hospital diploma. Coursework is delivered online in eight-week blocks and paired with direct clinical learning experiences. Nurses who enroll full-time can finish in one year, and part-time study is available at the student's own pace. Admission requires a current, unencumbered license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, with applicants below that mark considered if they submit additional documentation. Suggested filing dates are April 1 for fall, October 15 for spring, and March 1 for summer.

The degree totals 120 credits. Forty-one of them are awarded for RN licensure earned through a community college or an accredited hospital diploma program, and students may transfer up to 90 credits in all, but at least 30 must be earned at UMW. Those 30 credits are ten required courses, among them Medical Ethics and a three-credit NURS 490 Practicum, and the curriculum is framed around the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice. The baccalaureate nursing degree at UMW is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Through an academic partnership with Germanna Community College, GCC nursing students may be granted admission to the completion program as Pre-Nursing (3+1) students with a letter of intent and a 2.5 GPA, taking the three liberal arts courses during summer sessions and starting NURS-prefix courses once they present a valid Virginia RN license.

Georgia Southern accepts up to 29 previously earned nursing credits toward the 120 required for the degree, leaving 10 asynchronous courses that can be finished in as few as two semesters.

Georgia Southern's RN to BSN program is built for nurses who already hold an associate degree or diploma in nursing and a current Georgia RN license or a multistate compact license. The program awards credit for up to 29 previously earned nursing credits toward the 120 credit hours needed for the degree, which leaves 10 courses covering community health, leadership and management, research, ethics, and the influence of social, economic and cultural values on health. Students can finish in as few as two semesters or take as long as five years.

Coursework is delivered asynchronously so working nurses can complete assignments around their schedules, and the degree can be completed without ever coming to campus. Live sessions may be scheduled for course orientations, presentations by content experts, faculty office hours and student presentations. Admission requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, with provisional admission available between 2.70 and 3.0 for students who earn at least a B in their first six hours of nursing courses; applicants must complete Technology, Mathematics, Sciences and Field of Study courses with a C or better and have no more than 10 core credit hours remaining. Applications to the School of Nursing are preferred by April 1 for fall and Oct. 1 for spring, and Georgia Southern's application carries a $30 fee. Mason runs the RN to BSN completely online in mostly seven-week class blocks, which lets a full-time student finish in two semesters.

George Mason University's School of Nursing offers its RN to BSN pathway completely online to nurses who already hold a U.S.-issued RN license. Most classes are delivered in a seven-week format, and a full-time student can earn the degree in as little as two semesters, which the school puts at one year. Students may also enroll on a part-time basis. The online coursework includes opportunities to practice newly acquired skills in practicum areas.

Admission opens twice a year, for fall and spring terms, and rests on four things: an associate degree in nursing, completion of all nursing prerequisite courses, admission to the university, and a current U.S.-issued RN license. Students who enter with a prior non-nursing bachelor's degree must complete at least 30 credit hours at Mason beyond that first degree, and credits already applied to the earlier degree, whether earned at Mason or another university, cannot be counted as electives toward the RN to BSN. The school notes that nursing programs require additional fees, and the College of Public Health maintains a scholarship page covering students at all levels. Prospective students can join online Q&A hours held every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST over Zoom.

St. Johns River State offers online RN-to-BSN study for graduates of an Associate in Science nursing program who hold a current, valid and unencumbered Florida RN license. Students can enroll full time or part time, with fall, spring and summer entry points.

The college publishes a separate course-rotation plan for each starting term and study load. A spring part-time entrant should therefore use that particular sequence rather than borrow the fall full-time calendar. The 45 required clinical hours sit inside a single 8-week summer community health course, and students arrange them near where they already live, with the school listing options ranging from a county health agency to a summer camp to an international trip to Costa Rica.

Mizzou's Sinclair School of Nursing runs its RN to BSN as a fully online option for registered nurses who already hold an associate degree. The school states there are no required on-campus visits, and students can start in spring, summer or fall. The nursing coursework runs as few as 26 nursing credits, which the school says can be finished in as little as 14 months, though it notes the typical admitted transfer student needs 30 credit hours to complete the bachelor's degree. Estimated program cost is $18,000, a figure the school flags as illustrative and dependent on state of residence, transfer hours and course choices. Two tuition discounts are listed: 10% off for military veterans and 10% off for graduates of any public Missouri community college. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Clinical work is not waived. CCNE requires direct and indirect practice experiences throughout the RN-BSN option, and Mizzou spreads them across three courses. The bulk falls in NURSE 4970 Nursing in Communities, where students complete 45 clinical hours during the 8-week summer term. NURSE 4200 Nursing Ethics and the Law and NURSE 4500 Interprofessional Healthcare Collaboration and Care Management each add a short shadowing experience, one focused on ethical situations and one on observing case management. Completing compliance requirements is mandatory for those courses. To be admitted, applicants need a 2.5 GPA to transfer to Mizzou, official transcripts from every college attended, and an unencumbered US registered nurse license, or evidence of eligibility to sit for the NCLEX during the first semester of enrollment. Applications are accepted year-round. Because of state authorization rules, Missouri cannot accept applications to its online programs from students residing in several states, so it is worth checking the licensure disclosure before applying.

Utah State's completion track is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing rather than the more common CCNE, and runs entirely online on a schedule the university says students finish in two, three, or four semesters.

Utah State University offers the RN to BSN through the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, and the degree is 100% available online. The university states the program makes it possible to graduate with a BSN in two, three, or four semesters, with students building on an Associate Degree in Nursing rather than repeating entry-level nursing content. The curriculum covers professional nursing practice, population health, evidence-based health care, health informatics, care of the aging adult, advanced health assessment, leadership, management and policy, health care trends and issues, and a final capstone experience. Coursework emphasizes clinical reasoning, managing healthcare resources, leadership and management skills, and added experience in community and public health settings.

Admission to the nursing program is a separate process from admission to the university. Applicants need a 2.67 GPA, a current and unencumbered RN license, and transcripts from an accredited AAS/ADN RN program approved by the US Department of Education. The baccalaureate nursing program at the Logan campus is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Missouri State runs its RN-to-BSN as the BSN-C, delivered in eight-week courses that are all online with five start times available. A full-time student can complete the degree in one year, and part-time individualized plans are offered as well. The page puts tuition and costs at about $3,900 per semester with no extra fees for out-of-state students, and notes the degree qualifies for a Fast Track grant under which qualifying adult students may receive free tuition.

Admission is flexible in a specific, concrete way: a current RN license allows enrollment with no restrictions, but a student close to graduating from an ASN or ADN program may apply, be provisionally accepted, and begin non-clinical coursework until licensure arrives. Coursework covers evidence-based nursing practice, relevant clinical guidelines, leadership and management, and interprofessional health care. Eligible BSN-C students can also use an accelerated option into the Master of Science in Nursing-Practice Leadership program, with up to 12 credit hours counting toward both the bachelor's and the master's. Laboure College of Healthcare's RN-to-BSN program is no longer accepting students. Every page in the program carries a notice that the college "will cease academic operations on August 26, 2026," and points readers to Curry College, where Laboure's mission continues through the Laboure Center. That date has passed, so the details below describe what the program was rather than a program a nurse can apply to today.

The program was built for nurses who already held an RN license. Classes ran 100% online in seven-week terms with six start dates a year, in January, March, May, July, September, and November, and the college listed completion in 16 months or less with up to 90 transfer credits accepted from prior college coursework. Tuition was $384 per credit. Applicants submitted an application with a non-refundable fee and official transcripts from every institution attended; someone who had finished a nursing program but was not yet licensed could be admitted, but had to show evidence of licensure before the second nursing term started. The nursing curriculum was built from nine three-credit courses, ending with NUR 4336, an evidence-based practice course in which students worked with a mentor on a clinical practice problem and completed 45 hours of direct experience tied to that project. Admission runs on a single annual cycle — applications are accepted once per calendar year for fall entry — and the entire clinical requirement is one 2-credit public health nursing course that can be completed in a community near the student.

UND's College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines offers the RN to BSN as a 30-credit nursing sequence for registered nurses who hold an associate degree in nursing. Coursework is fully online, and the page states students are never required to come to campus for classes. Two published plans of study are available: full-time, completing in 12 months, or part-time, completing in 24. Beyond the 30 nursing credits, students must satisfy UND Essential Studies requirements, program prerequisites, and a 120-credit graduation minimum with an overall GPA of at least 2.75. Of those credits, 36 must be upper division and 30 must be UND credits. Nursing courses are sequenced with pre- and co-requisites, and a student must earn at least a C in every required nursing and support course to progress to the next semester.

The clinical component is NURS 374 Public Health Nursing Clinical, a 2-credit course in public health nursing. It requires daytime clinical hours and can be conducted in a community near the student, subject to agency availability and UND nursing program approval; the requirements page notes UND may not be able to accommodate clinical experiences in some states because of state board of nursing regulations. Applicants must hold a current, unencumbered RN license, though the program's FAQ states an applicant does not necessarily have to be working as a nurse to enroll. Students must be admitted to the University of North Dakota before applying to the RN to BSN program, applications are accepted once per calendar year, and completed applications received by July 1 are considered for the following fall. An April 1 scholarship priority deadline makes applicants eligible for the dedicated UND RN to BSN scholarship pool. Thirty-seven of the degree's 120 credit hours are granted outright once a student completes the NS011 RN-BSN assessment, and SEMO says the rest can be finished in as little as eight months full-time.

Southeast Missouri State University runs its RN to BSN as a fully online completion degree for nurses who already hold a license and an associate degree or diploma. The degree requires a minimum of 120 credit hours, including general education and at least 39 senior division hours, and 37 of those hours are awarded on completion of the NS011 RN-BSN assessment. SEMO states the program can be completed in as little as 8 months full-time or 16 months part-time. The nursing core is six graded courses covering holistic assessment, research for professional practice, community health, frameworks for professional nursing, leadership and management, and gerontological nursing, with a grade of C or better required in every course in the major. The program is nationally accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Admission is limited to permanent residents of Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, or Oklahoma. Applicants need a cumulative 2.5 GPA, a valid nursing license in the state where they practice, and completed coursework in Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Microbiology, English Composition II, Chemistry, and the majority of the non-nursing courses, followed by a background check verified through CastleBranch. The program does not use traditional clinicals. Three courses, NS386, NS390, and NS480, carry field experiences instead: hands-on work in a real agency or community setting alongside a preceptor or mentor, with learning goals the student sets against the course objectives. Students choose the health care agency themselves and the instructor approves it at enrollment, and the student is responsible for meeting that site's own requirements, such as flu shots, TB tests, or HIPAA training. Field experiences can usually be completed in the area where the nurse holds an RN license, provided there is an approved RN preceptor there.

BGSU awards up to 56 credit hours for credentials a nurse already holds — 40 credits for a nursing diploma plus a passed NCLEX-RN and an active, unencumbered license, and 16 more for having passed the NCLEX-PN before becoming an RN.

BGSU's RN to BSN is a 100% online completion program for nurses who are already licensed, built for diploma-prepared nurses and those holding an associate degree. Coursework runs in seven-week asynchronous terms that students take at their own pace, with three start dates a year. The RN to BSN portion is 30 credit hours and can be finished in as few as three semesters. A BSN from BGSU requires 120 credit hours in total, at least 30 of which must be completed at BGSU; the remainder comes in as transfer credit for general education and support courses, so the number of credits any given student still needs varies. The page lists tuition at $426.40 per credit hour, a figure that includes instructional and general fees, with an out-of-state surcharge of no more than $11 per credit.

A large share of that credit can come from credentials the nurse already earned: 40 credits are awarded to registered nurses who earned a nursing diploma, passed the NCLEX-RN, and hold an active, valid and unencumbered license, and an additional 16 to those who also passed the NCLEX-PN before becoming an RN. The page states no clinical hour total. Instead, direct care practice activities are embedded in four courses (NURS 3098, NURS 4208, NURS 3900 and NURS 4048) and students are responsible for identifying their own practice sites or participants, though faculty will assist anyone who cannot find one. An active, valid RN license is required to complete those experiences, and hours a student works on the job may not count toward them. To finish the degree, students maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 and earn a grade of C or better in every RN to BSN core course. The baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The University of Texas at Tyler

Tyler, TX · Public Fully online $7,020 annual in-state tuition 54% institutional graduation rate 647 degrees a year 71.2 score
UT Tyler charges a flat $9,895 in-state for the entire 30-hour completion track and runs it in seven-week courses, so a nurse taking terms back to back can finish in 12 months.

The University of Texas at Tyler's online RN to BSN is a 30-credit-hour upper-division track for nurses who already hold a license. It runs 100% online in seven-week courses, with recorded lectures covering foundational concepts, and students choose part-time or full-time enrollment. Requirements can be finished in 12 months, though the school says students may apply whenever they are ready and complete the degree at their own pace. Coursework covers human diseases and prevention, health assessment, evidence-based decision-making, contemporary nursing issues, community health and models of care, and leadership and management. Nurses who want to graduate with honors must complete an additional 15 credit hours to reach the university's 45-hour residency requirement. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Texas Board of Nursing.

Applicants must hold a current, active RN license in the state where they reside and practice, and must meet the Texas Core Curriculum along with nursing prerequisites: microbiology with lab (4 hours), anatomy and physiology I and II with labs (8 hours), lifespan growth and development (3 hours) and introductory psychology (3 hours). Chemistry is waived for anyone whose associate degree or diploma program did not require it. Applications are open year-round with three admission points (fall, spring and summer) and applicants select the RN-BSN program during the university application so the file routes to the RN-BSN nursing advisor. Total in-state tuition is a flat $9,895 for the full 30 hours, excluding the orientation fee, transfer student engagement fee, textbooks and materials. Hands-on experiences are completed in the student's own community; out-of-state applicants are told that state reciprocity agreements may affect clinical hours. The track is fully online and so does not meet residency requirements for students on F or J visas.

Clinical work is confined to a single course, Population Health (NURS 447), for which students find their own preceptor and set the hours on a schedule the two of them agree to.

Commonwealth University's RN-BSN is a completion program for nurses who already hold a license. Applicants must have completed an associate degree or diploma program in nursing and must hold a current unencumbered nursing license; applying means submitting the online application, official transcripts from every college attended, and proof of current RN licensure. Coursework is delivered exclusively online through the university's learning platform. Graduation requires 120 credits in total, covering required nursing courses along with general education and electives where needed, and 30 of the last 60 credits must be earned at Commonwealth University. Nurses already in the university's own ASN program can get a head start: those with a 3.0 GPA and academic advisor approval may take non-clinical BSN courses concurrently.

Clinical work sits in one course. Population Health (NURS 447) includes external clinical hours, and students identify a preceptor themselves and complete the hours on a schedule that works for both parties. Many students finish in as little as two semesters, depending on transfer credits and enrollment pace, and the program accepts applications for both the fall and spring semesters. The baccalaureate degree is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education; separately, the legacy RN-BSN curriculum formerly at Lock Haven University is accredited by ACEN through Spring 2030 and is on teach-out through Spring 2027. Nurses living outside Pennsylvania can enroll, as the university participates in NC-SARA through the Pennsylvania Department of Education. For students whose employers reimburse tuition, an Employer Tuition Assistance Deferment option lets them pay 25% of tuition and fees upfront plus a payment plan enrollment fee and defer the remaining 75% until 45 days after the semester ends.

Texas Woman's teaches its RN-to-BSN coursework online in seven-week courses. Clinical components are completed through class projects and a capstone supported by a preceptor. The applied work is built into the completion sequence, rather than being replaced by the online lectures.

Admission is rolling, but applicants complete two processes: the university application and NursingCAS. They need an unencumbered U.S. RN license and at least a 2.0 GPA in the required prerequisites. That GPA applies to the specified prerequisite set, not an assumed overall-college average. Daytona admits licensed RNs with an associate nursing degree or diploma and a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Daytona State's RN-to-BSN offers all nursing courses online for nurses entering with an associate nursing degree or diploma. Admission requires at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and an unencumbered RN license in the applicant's state of residence. MAT1033 and ENC1101 are prerequisites, with admissions advising available to help applicants prepare.

The application sequence starts with admission to the college and submission of required transcripts and license documentation. An acknowledgement is not the same as an acceptance letter: the college completes the application packet before issuing an acceptance decision. Accepted students then contact Academic Advising for new-student orientation and advising. That staged process gives applicants clear checkpoints before starting the completion coursework.

    Tennessee Technological University

Cookeville, TN · Public Fully online $9,990 annual in-state tuition 58% institutional graduation rate 152 degrees a year 69.9 score
Through the Tennessee Mobility Act, Tennessee Tech awards credit for more than half of the upper-division nursing coursework to qualifying RN-to-BSN students, then builds each admitted nurse an individualized curricular plan from their own transcript.

Tennessee Tech's Whitson-Hester School of Nursing runs its RN-to-BSN program fully online, with no campus visits required. It is built for registered nurses holding an ADN, ASN, or AAS in nursing, or enrolled in good standing in an accredited program at that level. Through the Tennessee Mobility Act, the school awards credit for more than half of the upper-division nursing coursework to qualifying students. ASN or AASN coursework typically covers most general education requirements as well, though a few may remain depending on when and where the earlier degree was earned. Students may also be eligible for experiential learning credit in the community health and leadership/management nursing courses. Because every registered nurse arrives with a different transcript, the school reviews each application individually and builds an individualized curricular plan to the BSN.

Admission calls for current RN licensure, a 2.5 nursing GPA, and official transcripts so the school can determine remaining general education requirements. Applications are accepted year-round, and courses run in Fall, Spring, and Summer on a fixed rotation: the NURS 3465 Transition/Bridge course and both community health courses in Fall, management and leadership plus pharmacology in Spring, pathophysiology and health assessment in Summer, and NURS 4300 Research in Healthcare in all three. Nurses with a master's in their plans can use the Fast Track, which lets designated graduate courses count toward both the BSN and the MSN with a 3.25 nursing GPA, but the sequencing only works if the advisor is told before the first semester's registration. A registered nurse who already holds a bachelor's degree in another field is pointed to the school's RN-to-MSN bridge instead.

Seminole State's RN-to-BSN offers online courses and a completion path as short as 12 months, with a slower pace available. Its practice work has two distinct formats: 30 hours of virtual simulation in community health and 30 hours of experiential learning in the final capstone. The simulation hours should not be described as in-person clinical rotations.

Admission generally requires at least a 2.5 GPA and a Florida or multistate RN license. Eligible recent graduates of Seminole State's ASN program have a direct route into bachelor's study. McNeese quotes two tuition rates for the same RN-to-BSN: $233 per credit hour (about $7,000) for nurses from partner health care agencies, and $300 per credit hour (about $9,000) for nurses from non-partner agencies.

McNeese runs its RN-to-BSN entirely online, on a dedicated online nursing site separate from the main university program listing. The nursing curriculum is 30 credit hours, and all 30 must be completed at McNeese. Classes run in seven-week sessions with a one-week break between them, and the program opens six start dates a year, which McNeese says lets a student finish in as little as 10 months. Admission requires a current unencumbered RN license and an associate degree or diploma from a nationally accredited nursing program at a regionally accredited U.S. institution, along with official transcripts sent directly from every college attended and a $20 application fee.

Tuition is quoted at two rates. Nurses employed by partner health care agencies pay $233 per credit hour, about $7,000 for the nursing curriculum; nurses from non-partner agencies pay $300 per credit hour, about $9,000. The preferred rate reaches nurses coming from partner health care institutions or associate degree programs, and extends to their spouses and dependents and to United States military members. Those figures cover the nursing curriculum only, and students may need additional courses depending on how much transfer credit they are granted; financial aid is available. Two clinical courses sit inside the 30 hours: NURN 403, a community health nursing clinical practicum, and NURN 405, a leadership and management clinical capstone. The baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Committee on Collegiate Nursing Education.

UCM uses community and leadership projects rather than bedside clinical hours.

UCM teaches the RN-BSN online in eight-week sessions, with a completion plan as short as one year. Entry is for nurses who already hold an associate nursing degree and an active RN license. A dedicated academic coordinator helps students work through the degree requirements, and the program does not add an out-of-state tuition surcharge.

The practice component centers on community health and leadership projects rather than bedside clinical hours. That distinction makes the type of assignment important: the program still asks students to apply nursing knowledge, but it does not require repeating bedside clinical rotations. UW-Stevens Point's BSN major is a completion program that admits nurses who already hold an associate or diploma nursing degree and a current Wisconsin nursing license, and it runs a minimum of 60 credits.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UW-Stevens Point is a completion major administered by the area of Nursing in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness. Its catalog requirements are written for nurses who are already credentialed: admission calls for an associate or diploma degree in nursing from a nationally accredited program and a current Wisconsin nursing license, alongside the university's Bachelor of Science general education program requirements. The major consists of a minimum of 60 credits, divided into 29 to 30 credits of collateral coursework, a 25-credit nursing core, and 6 to 7 credits of nursing electives. The catalog notes that math placement can add courses, since CHEM 101, CHEM 105, HSW 301 and MATH 255 all carry math prerequisites.

The collateral courses cover microbiology, human physiology, human anatomy, chemistry, biostatistics or elementary statistical methods, introductory psychology, developmental psychology or human growth and development, and introductory sociology. The 25-credit nursing core includes NURS 310 Professional Essentials (1 credit) and NURS 455 Concepts in Nursing Practice (3 credits), plus three-credit courses in foundations of professional nursing practice, chronic care management, aging and health, information management and health care technology, community health nursing, research and evidence-based practice, and leadership and management. Seven of those core courses are listed in pairs, one section labeled BSN@Home and one not, so a student takes either version to satisfy the requirement. Electives include human pathophysiology, epidemiology and public health, introduction to motivational interviewing, nursing economics, and a selected-topics course that may be repeated under different subtitles.

The curriculum covers assessment, research, informatics and multicultural nursing. Weber State University

Ogden, UT · Public Online $5,621 annual in-state tuition 46% institutional graduation rate 377 degrees a year 68.8 score
Admission is restricted to Utah residents who hold or are eligible for a Utah RN license — unless the applicant is moving straight up from Weber State's own ADN program — and when community applicants outnumber seats, admission is decided by a competitive point system.

Weber State's RN to BSN program is built for nurses who already hold a license or are eligible to sit for the NCLEX; prospective students without licensure are pointed to the university's Department of Associate Degree in Nursing instead. Coursework is delivered strictly online and covers population health, healthcare policy, care coordination, evidence-based practice and leadership. Full-time students finish in two semesters, which the program describes as an intensive senior-level plan of study; part-time students take three to six semesters, must complete at least one course per semester, and have to reapply if they pass the six-semester limit. Graduation requires 25 credits of RN to BSN program courses plus 3 credits of upper-division non-nursing coursework of the student's choice, inside the university's 120-credit bachelor's total. Students entering with fewer than 92 credits make up the difference outside the program. Students pay any costs for travel to community agencies when a course requires it.

Eligibility is tighter than the online format suggests. Applicants must be Utah residents holding or eligible for RN licensure in Utah, unless they are progressing directly from the WSU ADN program, and anyone who has not passed the NCLEX by the end of the first semester must withdraw until they do. An Associate of Science or Applied Associate of Science in nursing from an accredited nursing program at a regionally accredited institution is required, along with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; RNs with two or more years of documented full-time work experience (or three years part-time) may apply at a 2.5 cumulative GPA if their nursing GPA is 3.0. When more community applicants apply than there are positions, seats are awarded on points that weigh cumulative and science GPA, holding an AS rather than an AAS, years of RN work experience, veteran status, early submission and prior service as an ADN preceptor. Applications open for fall, spring and summer starts, each with a two-month window, and decisions follow roughly four to six weeks after the deadline. The baccalaureate program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

Only nine nursing courses — 31 credit hours — have to be completed at Ohio University, and they run in five-week terms with eight start dates a year.

Ohio University's RN to BSN track is built for nurses who already hold an associate degree or diploma in nursing and an active, unencumbered RN license, with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. The degree takes 120 credit hours in total, but only 30 of those must be earned at Ohio University, and the nursing coursework itself comes to nine courses worth 31 credit hours. Transfer credits carry no expiration date and no cap on the number of units accepted, and admitted students get a transcript review that produces an individualized list of the courses they still need. Three courses are excluded from transfer and must be taken at OHIO: NRSE 4515, NRSE 4585, and NRSE 4595. Classes run five weeks each, with eight start dates a year: three in fall, three in spring, and two in summer.

The program is delivered 100% online with no travel to campus required. Students review materials and submit assignments at any time from any location; each class also offers live virtual office hours, recorded for anyone who cannot attend the live session. Clinical work totals 31.5 hours, split between the community course (NRSE 4585) and the capstone (NRSE 4595), and students complete those hours locally at a site of their own choosing. Pacing is left to the student: the page says the degree can be finished in as little as one year, and reports that 50 percent of students complete the BSN in two years and 70 percent within five. Enrollment is limited to permanent residents of 32 listed states or the District of Columbia. Through concurrent enrollment agreements with Coastal Alabama Community College, Jones College and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, students can take three of the six USA nursing courses online during the fourth and fifth semesters of their ADN program and complete the remaining three after graduating and passing the NCLEX-RN.

The University of South Alabama's RN to BSN Pathway is a completion program for nurses who already hold an unrestricted RN license and an accredited diploma or associate degree in nursing. Its professional component is six fully online nursing courses, NU 450 through NU 455 at four credit hours each, totaling 24 credit hours that must all be taken at USA; upper-division nursing courses from another institution will not transfer toward them. Students move through the sequence at their own pace and can finish in as few as two semesters, though the component must be completed within five years of beginning the BSN curriculum. The clinical requirement sits in the final course, NU 454, where students complete a 180-hour Evidence-Based Practice project. Forty-five of those are direct care hours with a preceptor at an affiliated facility the student chooses; the rest are fulfilled through course assignments.

Admission requires all 18 prerequisite courses, 59 credit hours of general education separate from the nursing coursework taken to become an RN, completed at a regionally accredited school with a minimum grade of C in each, a 2.5 GPA across the prerequisites and a 2.0 university GPA. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and file both a primary application with USA admissions and a $50 supplemental application with the College of Nursing; students are admitted each fall, spring and summer. State board rules limit where the program can reach: USA is not accepting nursing applications from South Dakota or New York, is not approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing to offer clinical experiences in Louisiana for RN-BSN students, and cannot place students in clinical settings in Washington, DC. Registration is contingent on a negative drug screen, an acceptable background check and completed health records.

State College of Florida uses accelerated five-week nursing sessions. Online core coursework is available in fall, spring and summer, and the published nursing sequence spans four semesters with two elective courses included. Classes have participation schedules and assignment deadlines; they are not self-paced.

The Community and Public Health practicum requires 45 hours completed within Florida. This geographic requirement is separate from the convenience of online coursework. A nurse considering the program from another state should not assume that a local out-of-state placement will satisfy it. The short sessions and fixed practicum location are the main scheduling distinctions to weigh alongside the four-semester academic plan.

East Texas A&M's competency-based RN-to-BSN lets students work at their own pace within seven-week terms, with a full-time plan spanning five terms.

East Texas A&M's competency-based RN-to-BSN contains 10 courses totaling 30 credits, organized into seven-week terms. The full-time plan spans five terms, or 10 months, with entry available throughout the year. Students can move through familiar material using their existing nursing knowledge and experience.

The pace is flexible within a term, but terms still have boundaries. A student who completes a course before the published fourth-Friday cutoff may add another in that term; the added course must be finished by term end and does not carry over. Theory application can take place in the student's community, home or workplace. Texas core and nursing support requirements may be completed before application or after acceptance, so the 30-credit nursing plan should be distinguished from any supporting courses still needed.

    University of Northern Colorado

Greeley, CO · Public Fully online $9,047 annual in-state tuition 51% institutional graduation rate 146 degrees a year 67.5 score
A dual enrollment pathway lets students still enrolled in a community college ADN program take UNC nursing courses alongside that coursework and finish the BSN as soon as two terms after completing the ADN and earning RN licensure.

University of Northern Colorado runs its RN-to-BSN through UNC Extended Campus, fully online, with cohorts starting each fall term and space-permitting entry in spring or summer. UNC supplies 30 credits of the 120-credit degree as ten NURS courses covering health assessment, research and evidence-based practice, population-based public health nursing, current issues in health care, and professional leadership and management; the remaining credits come from transfer work, the Colorado Liberal Arts Curriculum, and nursing credits awarded under the Colorado Nursing Articulation Agreement. A minimum of 30 credits must be earned at UNC to graduate. The page estimates completion at 7 to 20 months and says registered nurses finish in less than two years, or five terms, while working full time. Tuition is a flat $350 per credit for the 2026-27 academic year, the same rate in state or out, with no student or technology fees, though some courses such as field experiences carry course fees. The baccalaureate program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Students complete 180 total practicum hours, with the final 90 done in the last semester under a clinical preceptor at a facility, and the coursework includes an independent project. Practicums happen in the student's own area; a Clinical Placement Coordinator helps locate sites and qualified preceptors, including outside Colorado, but the page tells applicants to be prepared to actively network and find clinical experiences themselves. RN applicants must have graduated from a regionally accredited institution with a nationally accredited, State Board of Nursing approved associate degree program and hold an RN license in good standing in their state of practice; dual enrollment applicants must be enrolled in an equivalent ADN program. All applicants need a 2.5 cumulative GPA, completed prerequisites in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, writing, nutrition, lifespan development and statistics, and must pass a background check and a 10-panel drug screening. There is a mandatory online orientation at the start, and applications are submitted through NursingCAS under either the RN-BSN or Dual Enrollment (RN-BSN) listing. UNC notes that some state boards of nursing must approve clinical placements before a student can complete one there.

MSU-Northern pairs online courses with a local two-credit clinical and a choice of study pace.

The full-time RN-BSN plan takes three semesters; part-time students can spread completion over up to five years. The pathway builds on an ASN and registered-nurse preparation, with coursework addressing leadership, community health, evidence-based practice, policy and informatics. Examples include family nursing, advanced health assessment and nursing ethics.

The two-credit clinical is completed locally rather than treated as online coursework. Check how that experience fits the semester plan before choosing a pace around work. Northern's longer part-time window offers room to spread study, but the clinical still needs its own place on the calendar. This is a completion pathway for existing RNs, separate from the university's ASN route to initial licensure.

Hillsborough offers every RN-to-BSN course in fall, spring and summer, using eight-week online blocks. Up to 11 upper-level nursing credits may transfer after individual review. The leadership and management capstone must be taken in the final eight weeks, so broad course availability does not mean the entire sequence can be rearranged freely.

Delta State awards 39 hours of test-free validation credit for prior associate or diploma nursing coursework once a student passes four specified courses, and lets nurses take four courses as non-degree-seeking students before they formally apply.

Delta State University's RN to BSN is a completion program at the Robert E. Smith School of Nursing and Health Sciences, built for registered nurses who already hold an associate degree or diploma. Coursework is online, with clinical experiences completed in a healthcare or community setting where the student is already geographically located. Students choose full-time or part-time: the full-time plan of study finishes in two semesters, carrying 14 nursing credits in the fall and 13 in the spring, while the part-time plan spreads the same courses across four semesters. Total degree requirements come to 120 credits, made up of 41 hours of general education, 13 hours of special degree requirements and a 66-hour major. Course and lab fees for 2025-2026 total $425 for the program, $190 in the fall and $235 in the spring; tuition covers the classes themselves.

The school says applications are accepted year round, but materials are due to the Robert E. Smith School of Nursing by February 15 prior to the semester of enrollment, and students are admitted in the fall term. Applicants need an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher in the nursing major, a C or better in every prerequisite, graduation from an accredited program, and a copy of a current unencumbered RN license to practice in the state where they will perform clinical. Mississippi statute also requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check at the student's own expense, and accepted students submit a health and immunization form, evidence of personal health insurance and Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers. Prior nursing coursework is credited without testing: 39 hours of validation credit for associate or diploma nursing courses is awarded once a student successfully completes NUR 311, NUR 331, NUR 312 and NUR 358, and nurses may enroll in NUR 311, NUR 331, NUR 312 and NUR 320 as non-degree-seeking students before admission and apply that credit toward the degree later. The BSN is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Minot State posts 35 semester hours of NCLEX-RN examination credit to the transcript in a student's graduating semester, which covers more than half of the 60 four-year-institution credits required and leaves 30 credits to complete at Minot State.

Minot State University's RN to BSN is a 100% online major housed in the Department of Nursing, built for nurses who already hold an associate degree in nursing and an RN license. Admission requires graduation from a board-approved nursing education program and a passing NCLEX-RN, a minimum 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and submission of all required health and safety documentation. Applicants must supply a copy of a current, active, unencumbered NCLEX-RN license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification for healthcare professionals, and proof of personal health insurance coverage. Nurses still in the final semester of an ADN program can be conditionally admitted before licensure and take NURS 363 Nursing Theory and Research, NURS 383 Professional Nursing I, special topics courses, and any general education they still need. There are no application deadlines.

Graduation requires 60 semester hours completed at a four-year institution, and 35 of those arrive as NCLEX-RN examination credit posted in the final semester. The remaining 30 semester hours are taken at Minot State: 26 in nursing and special topics courses plus 4 in electives or general education, with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students who have already satisfied their general education requirements can finish in as few as two semesters; everyone else works from a transcript evaluation and a plan of study built with an academic advisor. Clinical work sits inside the Public Health for the Professional Nurse course as indirect and direct experiences completed independently in the student's own community (one assignment has students conduct a windshield survey, identify a pressing local need, and plan evidence-based interventions) and students are not assigned to a healthcare facility. A $150 course fee applies to four of the nursing courses, and tuition rates are the same for in-state and out-of-state residents. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Twenty-seven of the degree's 120 credit hours are awarded outright for holding an unencumbered RN license, leaving a 30-hour nursing major of RN-specific coursework that the catalog lists as 100% online.

William Carey University's RN-BSN appears in the 2026-2027 undergraduate catalog as Nursing (RN-BSN), B.S.N., with a listed location of 100% Online. The degree requires a minimum of 120 credit hours, and the catalog breaks them into four blocks. Thirty hours are the nursing major itself: nine NRN courses built for practicing nurses, covering pathophysiology, applied assessment and health promotion, professional writing and informatics, managing health care, community nursing, evidence-based practice, the RN's role on interdisciplinary teams, and a senior capstone called Transition to Baccalaureate Nursing. Another 27 hours are granted rather than taken. The catalog awards credit for seven clinical nursing courses (including Adult Health Nursing I and II, Pediatric Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Maternal Child Nursing) by virtue of holding an unencumbered license as a registered nurse in all states where licensed, with a faculty advisor initialing each course on the degree planner when the student applies for the degree.

The balance is 20 hours of additional program requirements, among them both anatomy and physiology courses, general microbiology, nutrition and diet therapy, developmental psychology, introduction to psychological statistics, and sociology, plus 5 hours of general electives and the university's general education curriculum, which at William Carey includes six hours of biblical studies. Every course in the nursing major and in the additional program requirements must be passed with a minimum grade of C. The catalog also sets the transfer arithmetic: no more than 60 of the 120 hours may come from a community or junior college, at least 40 hours must be numbered 300 or above, and the last 30 hours must be earned at William Carey. For admission, progression, and graduation criteria the degree plan points students to the School of Nursing's own program requirements. The School of Nursing describes the RN-BSN as a post-licensure program that augments the associate's degree in an online environment, and states that its baccalaureate and master's nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

NKU block-transfers 23 credits at no cost for NCLEX passage and runs the 30-credit nursing core in seven-week terms that can be finished in as few as 10 months.

Northern Kentucky University's RN to BSN is delivered 100% online through the university's online campus, with six start dates a year and courses that run seven weeks each. The nursing core is 30 credit hours across ten three-credit courses: role transformation, nursing research and evidence-based practice, quality and safety, population-centered health in the community, genetics and genomics, health informatics, caring and communication for older adults, current issues and trends, leadership in nursing, and a leadership practicum in which students design a quality improvement project. The bachelor's degree itself requires 120 credit hours, made up of 37 general education credits, the 30 nursing credits, and 23 credits block-transferred at no cost for the NCLEX, plus whatever else transfers in from the associate degree. NKU quotes $334 per credit hour and $10,500 for the nursing coursework, the same pay-by-the-course rate for in-state and out-of-state students; the university notes that figure covers only the 30-credit nursing program and not any general education courses a student still needs.

Admission is built for nurses who are already practicing. Applicants submit official transcripts from an associate degree or diploma nursing program at a regionally accredited institution and from all other postsecondary work, and must hold current, unrestricted RN licensure within the first semester of admission, with proof of licensure in the state of practice required before enrolling in any nursing course. NKU states that students who completed an associate degree at a non-accredited nursing program may be denied licensure or the ability to practice outside Kentucky. Six prerequisite areas (a year of English composition, a year of anatomy and physiology with labs, microbiology for health professionals with lab, introductory psychology, lifespan or human development, and health care ethics) must be completed with a grade of C or better, though they can be taken as corequisites, and Introduction to Statistical Methods (STA 205) has to be finished before Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice (NRP 472). Youngstown State University's RN to BSN is a 100% online completion program aimed at working nurses. The degree requires a minimum of 122 credit hours, of which 28 are core nursing credits taken at YSU. Those core credits are spread across nine required courses (Professional Nursing, Nursing Informatics, Culture in Nursing, Health Promotion Across the Lifespan, Health Assessment for RNs, Community Health Nursing for RNs, Evidence-Based Practice, a Senior Capstone, and a four-credit Nursing Leadership course) each running seven weeks. YSU lists four start dates across the academic year (Fall 1, Fall 2, Spring 1 and Spring 2) and a completion time of as few as 10 months. The online courses are taught by the same faculty who teach on campus.

Admission requires an ADN/ASN or diploma in nursing with a minimum 2.0 overall GPA, official transcripts from every college attended, a current unencumbered RN license, and a $45 application fee that is waived for active and veteran military members. Once admitted, 66 credit hours of general education and nursing coursework from the ADN/ASN transfer as a block, and YSU adds 10 hours of experiential credit for the unencumbered license; the university also states it accepts credits from non-regionally accredited nursing programs. Experiential learning is built into two required courses rather than taken as standalone clinicals: 20 hours in the Senior Capstone and 40 hours in Nursing Leadership. In-state tuition is $279 per credit hour, or $7,812 for the program, with out-of-state tuition at $284 per credit hour. Cumberlands prices the online RN to BSN at a flat $220 per credit hour across 38 credit hours and states a nurse can finish in as little as 12 months.

University of the Cumberlands runs its RN to BSN fully online through the Forcht School of Nursing, and the page is written for nurses who already hold a license rather than for students entering the field. The program lists 38 credit hours at $220 per credit hour, and the university says a nurse can complete it in as little as 12 months. Coursework is organized around what the school calls the seven essential pillars of modern nursing: leadership, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, informatics, population health, collaboration, and professionalism. The stated purpose of the program is to build on the registered nurse's existing knowledge and skills and prepare graduates for leadership roles or graduate study.

The required sequence runs eleven nursing courses, from The Nursing Profession Today and Tomorrow and Pathophysiology through Advanced Health Assessment, Healthcare and Social Policy, Global Health, Community Healthcare, Principles of Healthcare Management, and a Senior Seminar. Transfer credits from an accredited AS-RN program must be posted at the time of admission and must have been earned with a grade of C or better, and every RN-BSN student completes an exit exam before graduating. All courses are offered in an online format, though the university notes some carry a clinical component. The 38 credits cover program requirements only; Cumberlands requires 120 hours in total for a bachelor's degree, with transfer and prior learning credits counting toward that total. The online RN-BSN degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

EKU offers 12-month and 18-month paths through 25 nursing credits.

EKU offers two ways to pace its 25 nursing credits. The accelerated path can take 12 months and generally uses two courses per term. The traditional path takes about 18 months, usually with one course in each seven-week term and occasionally a second. The difference is course load, not a different degree.

Clinical projects can be completed at the student's current workplace, and the program requires no campus or testing-center visits. Prior nursing education, licensure and experience contribute toward the complete 120-credit bachelor's degree. For a working RN, the choice between the two plans involves comparing the overlapping coursework with time for those workplace-based projects, rather than looking only at the advertised finish date.

Southern Miss awards RN-BSN students 34 "validation credits" for coursework already completed in their associate degree, part of a plan of study the page says can be finished in two semesters.

The RN-BSN track at the University of Southern Mississippi is a post-licensure completion program delivered through the university's online division. It totals 120 credit hours, 30 of them in the major area of study, and the page states the degree can be completed in two semesters with a fall or spring start. Students are granted 34 credits, which the program calls validation credits, for the coursework already taken in their associate degree; they register for those credits during the plan of study. Coursework is priced at $433.59 per credit hour and runs in 7-week and 15-week sessions across the fall and spring plans, with a 10-week summer block in the spring-start sequence. There are no required chemistry courses, and the program lists CCNE accreditation.

Admission is a separate application from admission to the university, and the page is direct that it is competitive and not guaranteed regardless of grades. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited associate degree nursing program, hold a current unrestricted RN license, have an overall nursing GPA of 2.0, and pass all nursing prerequisites with a C or higher alongside an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher. A criminal background check, immunizations, CPR, physical health exam and substance screening are also required. One restriction shapes who can enroll: applicants must be registered to practice nursing in a compact state, and the program states it is not suited to students located outside the United States. Deadlines are May 1 for fall and October 1 for spring, with no exceptions. Every course is available online and students are not required to visit campus for in-class lectures, but two clinical experiences are completed in the student's own health care agency or through community health services.

Registered nurses can start the program while still in the final semester of an associate degree, and a valid RN license waives the full 33-credit AAS nursing block outright.

UA Little Rock's RN to BSN is a 120-credit-hour Bachelor of Science in Nursing delivered entirely online through the College of Business, Health, and Human Services. It admits licensed registered nurses along with RN graduates of associate or diploma programs, and students may begin while completing the last semester of an AAS in Nursing. The 120 hours break into 35 credits of core curriculum, a 33-credit block of AAS nursing courses that is waived for applicants holding a valid RN license, and 34 credits of upper-level nursing coursework, plus statistics, a workplace or technical writing course, an eight-credit upper-level elective, and four credits of additional science. Upper-level courses cover health assessment, wellness promotion, health care economics, research and evidence-based practice, ethics and legalities, community health, and leadership and management.

Nursing courses run in five-week terms, three each in fall and spring and two in summer, and the school accepts students for all three terms. Students who have already satisfied the additional BSN requirements can finish in two semesters; those with requirements outstanding should expect three to four. An active and unencumbered RN license is required to continue into the second semester. Progression requires a minimum grade of C in every upper-level nursing and general education course and a cumulative UA Little Rock GPA of at least 2.00, and two Fs in required BSN nursing courses ends enrollment. The whole program must be completed within three years of the date of initial enrollment in the Professional Nursing Role course. Incoming students meet with an advisor to sequence classes and identify missing requirements, and transfer transcripts are reviewed and articulated before registration.

The entire clinical requirement is one 40-hour placement completed local to the student, delivered as a single ten-week course, while the rest of the nursing coursework runs in five-week blocks.

Mayville State University's RN-to-BSN program is a completion track for nurses who already hold an RN license, built on prior nursing education and delivered entirely online. Nursing courses run in five-week blocks, with students taking three to four courses per semester, and the program offers two plans of study: full-time enrollment finishing in 12 months and part-time in 24. There are no required campus visits and no scheduled online meetings, so the coursework is asynchronous. Students can start in either the fall or the spring semester.

The clinical component is a single requirement of 40 hours, completed local to the student and delivered as one ten-week course, the only course that breaks the five-week block pattern; the program posts a Division of Nursing out-of-state clinical approval form for students placing outside North Dakota. Mayville State publishes its 2023-24 on-time completion rates as 85 percent full-time, 60 percent part-time, and 80 percent overall. The baccalaureate nursing degree is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the page states that effective July 17, 2024 the program is also a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, with that candidacy status expiring July 17, 2026.

    Purdue University Northwest

Hammond, IN · Public Fully online $7,536 annual in-state tuition 43% institutional graduation rate 132 degrees a year 65.3 score
Purdue Northwest runs the completion track on two timelines — a 10-month PowerPath option open only to students who finish every non-nursing requirement first, and a 16-month standard track — with the same 34 nursing credits and the same tuition either way.

Purdue University Northwest's College of Nursing delivers its RN-to-BSN entirely online in five-week course blocks, built for nurses who keep working while they study. The degree totals 120 credits: 34 nursing credits taken at PNW, 30 nursing credits transferred in for an ASN or ADN, and 56 non-nursing credits, 32 of which are completed before admission. Students can transfer in up to 86 credits, 70% of the degree. Tuition runs $408.32 per credit hour, putting the 34 nursing credits at $13,882.88; new students employed by one of PNW's partner hospitals in Indiana, Illinois or Wisconsin, or attending one of its partner community colleges, may receive scholarships that bring that to $10,604.88, or $311.91 per credit. A $304-per-semester instructional materials access fee is charged separately. The program advises budgeting 3 to 4 hours of work per week for every credit hour.

There are two ways to finish. The standard track takes as few as 16 months; the accelerated PowerPath track takes as few as 10, but enrolls only students who have completed all non-nursing requirements first, and anyone who cannot continue on PowerPath moves to the 16-month track and may not switch back. Twelve nursing courses are required, taken one at a time across each five-week block except NUR 39100 and NUR 39401, which run concurrently; coursework covers pathophysiology, health promotion and education, nursing care of the aged, disabled and chronically ill, nursing leadership and management, and community and public health nursing. Clinical requirements are satisfied in several ways: students assess virtual patients with Shadow Health in NUR 38801, evaluate a simulated community using Sentinel City in NUR 48300, and complete the NUR 49800 capstone by carrying out an evidence-based project addressing a local community need they identify. The baccalaureate program at the Hammond and Westville campuses holds continuing accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

Lander runs the completion coursework online in seven-week sessions and states the degree can be finished in as little as two semesters, with clinicals completed in health care settings near the student rather than on campus in Greenwood.

Lander University's RN to BSN completion option is built for nurses who are already licensed and who earned their entry credential through a diploma or associate degree program. Coursework is delivered 100% online, courses run in seven-week sessions, and Lander states the program can be completed in as little as two semesters. The required nursing courses are Enhanced Physical Assessment for RNs, Research, Professional Transition/RN, Leadership and Management, Community Health Nursing, Professional Development in Nursing, and Pathophysiology. Nursing electives are also offered online.

The clinical component does not send students back to Greenwood: Lander says clinicals may be completed in health care settings convenient to the student's location. Admission is handled separately from the pre-licensure track, and Lander notes that requirements specific to the completion program apply, pointing applicants to a full listing rather than naming them on the program page. Lander has offered nursing education for more than 50 years; its nursing programs are approved by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

    Rasmussen University-Wisconsin

Green Bay, WI · Private for-profit Fully online $13,929 annual in-state tuition 57% institutional graduation rate 19 degrees a year 65.1 score
Rasmussen accepts up to 134 transfer credits toward the 180-credit BSN and waives up to 28 general education credits for RN to BSN students who are actively working, leaving 46 nursing credit hours across nine courses.

Rasmussen University's RN to BSN entry track is delivered online for nurses who are already licensed. Admission requires a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the U.S., and applicants to this track are exempt from the Entrance Placement Exam; those with prior college credit receive a transcript evaluation during the admissions process. The BSN requires a documented total of 180 credits to graduate, and a maximum of 134 of those may be awarded as transfer credit, which the school describes as nearly 75 percent of program requirements. Eligible RN to BSN students who are actively working can have up to 28 general education credits waived. The nursing coursework itself is 46 credit hours across nine courses, including Healthcare Technology and Informatics in Nursing (NUR3475), Quality Improvement in Nursing (NUR3835) and Nursing Leadership and Management (NUR4595). Full-time students can finish in 12 months, and the program has eight start dates per year.

Clinical work is a single practicum rather than assigned hours at a facility. The curriculum includes one clinical practicum, NUR4926 RN-BSN Capstone, worth 6 credits, which may typically be completed in the student's current place of employment subject to approval and is fulfilled through an individual signature assignment documenting achievement of the program outcomes; the school also helps students look for community settings. Rasmussen puts the time commitment at typically around 25 to 35 hours and calls it flexible. Courses use the university's online Empowered Learning format, which is accessible anytime and built around projects rather than exams. Tuition is listed at $300 per full-time credit, so a student who receives the full 28-credit waiver takes 50 credits for $15,000 in tuition plus $500 in fees before any grants or assessment credit. The baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the university is institutionally accredited through American Public University System by the Higher Learning Commission. The program is not available to residents of all states.

UT Permian Basin pairs 30 credits of completion coursework with two in-person clinical courses arranged with a local nurse preceptor.

UT Permian Basin's RN-to-BSN has 30 credits of completion coursework plus any remaining Texas core requirements. Most coursework is asynchronous, and the university advertises a completion option of less than a year. The academic timetable depends on satisfying the core as well as the nursing sequence.

Two clinical courses are conducted in person with a local nurse preceptor; they do not require campus visits. The preceptor must be BSN-prepared and hold a leadership role. That is a specific placement qualification, not simply permission to work with any available nurse. For an employed RN, the practical attraction is local clinical work, while the time and qualified-preceptor requirements remain part of completing the degree.

EIU admits students who are still working toward RN licensure, requiring only that they pass the NCLEX before registering for 4000-level courses, rather than an active license at the point of entry.

Eastern Illinois University's online RN to BSN is a post-licensure completion program delivered as 100% online coursework, which the page describes as accelerated. EIU lists the program at 32 credit hours and says it can be completed within three semesters, with five start dates per year. Coursework is built on the nursing experience students bring with them, expanding their knowledge of values, theory and research toward evidence-based, safe, holistic practice, and the school frames its approach as interdisciplinary and focused on the individual student.

Entry does not require a license already in hand. The program is open to people who have completed or are working toward RN licensure, with two conditions stated in the page's own footnote: students must pass the NCLEX before registering for 4000-level courses, and current RNs must hold a valid, unencumbered nursing license. The baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. EIU lists tuition for the program at $8,902, and notes that students may be required to complete additional courses outside the nursing program depending on an advisor's transcript review, which would increase that total.

Laredo's RN-to-BSN includes a community capstone and coursework applying nursing research, informatics and leadership to local care needs.

Laredo's online RN-to-BSN applies nursing research, informatics and leadership to community care, including a community capstone project. The 2025-26 handbook requires an unencumbered RN license, at least a 2.5 overall GPA and grades of C or better in prerequisite and core courses.

The admission process gives first consideration to Laredo ADN graduates, followed by other nurses who live or work in the college's service area. Those priorities are distinct from the minimum admission requirements: meeting the GPA and license criteria does not remove the order of consideration. The community capstone and local admission priorities give the completion pathway a specific service-area focus.

A "Pathways to Certification" elective lets students point their one elective slot at a specific credential — holistic nursing through AHNCC, wound management as a Wound Treatment Associate through the WOCNCB, or emergency nursing through the BCEN.

Austin Peay State University offers the RN to BSN as a concentration for registered nurses who already hold an active, unencumbered license, and for new graduates of an ADN or AAS program who are eligible for licensure. Coursework is 100% online and asynchronous, and students are not required to come to campus. Courses run as seven-week accelerated terms with five start dates a year, beginning mid-January, mid-March, end of May, mid-August, and mid-October, and following the Fort Campbell Campus academic calendar. The sample plan of study totals 30 credits across five terms, and the page states the program can be finished in as few as 12 months. Every student is on an individualized plan and can take one to three courses per term; most take two, which counts as full-time, and students may switch between full-time and part-time status.

The curriculum covers pathophysiology, nursing assessment, research, community nursing, trends and issues, and leadership, with clinical components attached to the community nursing and leadership courses. It says students acquire clinical hours where they work and where they live under approved clinical contracts, working with the RN to BSN Advisor and Program Facilitator to secure sites; preceptors are used in the leadership clinical course, where students spend time with a nurse leader. Out-of-state and military-affiliated applicants are welcome, though the program states it cannot guarantee clinical practicum placement in all 50 states. Admission requires an unrestricted RN license, graduation from an accredited associate degree or diploma nursing program, a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, and a minimum grade of C in all nursing courses in the pre-licensure program; there is no entrance exam. Applicants who did not graduate from an accredited program must pass the NLN Nursing Acceleration Challenge Exams (NACE) II. The BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

UMSL’s part-time RN-to-BSN includes direct and indirect community practice experiences.

UMSL structures its RN-to-BSN as a part-time completion program, usually taking 15 to 24 months. Applicants enter with an associate nursing degree or diploma. Coursework is online, but the Community and Population Health Synthesis course adds a practicum with both direct and indirect clinical experiences.

The community emphasis changes what students need to plan around: completing lectures online is separate from arranging time for practice assignments. Lamar uses project-based practicum assignments that do not require students to find a preceptor, within a 30-credit online completion curriculum.

Lamar's RN-to-BSN contains 30 completion credits taught in eight-week online sessions, with completion possible in as few as 13 months. Its practicum requirements are project-based and do not require students to find a preceptor. This changes the placement task, not the expectation to complete applied nursing work.

A 2.5 GPA meets the standard admission threshold. Applicants with a GPA from 2.0 to 2.49 may receive conditional admission, but must earn B grades in their first six nursing credits. Tuition is $370 per credit, with fall, spring, and summer start dates. An active, unencumbered RN license earns 47 credits of advanced placement, cutting the remaining nursing requirement to a 16-credit core that NMU suggests pairing with an optional leadership certificate or minor at a discounted tuition rate.

Northern Michigan University runs its RN to BSN online only through NMU Global Campus, for nurses who already hold a license but have not finished a baccalaureate degree. The degree totals 120 credits, and an active, unencumbered RN license brings 47 of them as advanced placement. What remains is a 16-credit nursing core covering nursing research and evidence-based practice, nursing care of populations, a populations clinical for the practicing nurse, a nursing issues seminar, leadership and management, and professional nursing practice, alongside 30-40 credits of general education. Students must earn a minimum of 30 credits from NMU to graduate, and the program encourages filling the credits beyond the nursing core with either an optional 16-credit leadership certificate or a 20-credit leadership minor; NU and LDR courses are offered at a discounted tuition rate. Nursing and leadership courses are delivered in 7-8 week accelerated blocks.

Clinical work is project-based and organized around three areas of focus: interacting with clinicians and patients, online virtual clinical simulations, and implementing evidence into practice. Clinics are completed in the student's local area, and activities are individualized to the student's learning goals and designed to be relevant to their current workplace. Admission requires an online application to NMU, an associate of applied science degree in nursing from an accredited institution with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and a registered nursing license free of restrictions or sanctions; students in their final year of an accredited ADN program can be admitted conditionally. Once enrolled, nursing majors must maintain a 2.25 NMU cumulative grade point average and complete every nursing course with a minimum grade of C. Community hours and assessments are completed in person in designated communities, linking the coursework to actual population-health settings.

Applicants need an associate nursing degree, an active unencumbered Texas RN license, at least a 2.5 GPA and employment as a professional nurse. Current employment is therefore part of the admission criteria, not merely the audience for the online format. The one-year plan covers upper-division nursing coursework and should be read alongside the student's complete degree requirements.

Saint Cloud, MN · Public Online $8,811 annual in-state tuition 40% institutional graduation rate 76 degrees a year 62.4 score
St. Cloud State connects its research courses to an evidence-based practice application course and a nursing capstone.

The online RN-to-BSN consists of 30 nursing credits within a 120-credit bachelor's degree. Courses run in seven-week sessions, and the school advertises completion in as few as 10 months. Transfer evaluation matters: up to 90 credits may transfer, while remaining liberal-education requirements still form part of the degree. Admission requires a minimum 2.5 GPA in the previous RN program and a current, unencumbered RN license in at least one state.

The sequence gives research and community work a defined progression. Evidence-based practice theory precedes its application course; population-health nursing precedes the associated clinical course. Both that clinical course and the capstone include asynchronous clinical components. Cross-cultural health, ethics and genetics, pharmacology, and nursing leadership round out the curriculum. These are practice-bearing courses, so online delivery should not be read as a waiver of clinical assignments. Students apply to both the university and the RN-to-BSN program and submit official transcripts.

Weatherford's 12-month RN-to-BSN delivers classes online and meets clinical course requirements through class and preceptor projects.

Weatherford's RN-to-BSN is a 12-month program for registered nurses with an associate nursing degree or diploma. Coursework is fully online. The bachelor's degree totals 120 credits, including the nursing and supporting education brought into the completion pathway.

Courses with clinical components meet those requirements through class and preceptor projects. The program therefore combines remote academic study with applied work rather than treating the BSN as online lectures alone. For nurses planning around employment, the preceptor-project schedule is a separate consideration from the overall 12-month timeline.

    Indiana University-Northwest

Gary, IN · Public Fully online $7,717 annual in-state tuition 37% institutional graduation rate 45 degrees a year 62.2 score
Registered nurses move through the program as a cohort in condensed six-to-eight-week online modules, and those holding a national specialty certification can convert it into three credit hours through a prior-learning course, K304.

IU Northwest's RN to BSN Degree Completion program delivers all of its classes online, with graduation options of 12, 18, or 24 months once general education requirements are finished. Nursing coursework runs in condensed six-to-eight-week learning modules so students can keep working, and no travel to campus is required for class. The program builds on what students already finished, granting credit for most general education courses completed as part of an ASN or diploma program; remaining general education can be taken through Indiana University's distance education programs or at another college near the student and transferred in. Coursework is structured so assignments can be completed at convenient times, with course material reachable through Canvas around the clock.

Applicants need an Associate of Science in Nursing or a nursing diploma from an accredited program, a cumulative GPA of 2.5, and a national criminal background check. They must hold a current, unencumbered RN license in the state where they practice or plan to meet clinical requirements, and that license must be in hand before the first nursing course. Applications are accepted at any time of year, directed to the IU campus nearest the student's residence, and the program is part of the statewide IU RN-BSN Consortium. Students progress as a cohort, which lets the school sequence coursework systematically. The curriculum concentrates on health promotion, disease prevention, health restoration, health maintenance, and managing individuals and families coping with acute and chronic illness, and prepares graduates to practice in acute and long-term care, community settings, home care, and other nontraditional settings. The school reports more than 180 clinical and community partner organizations. Students also build their own capstone nursing experience and may add academic minors or majors in areas such as business or psychology.

Navarro's RN-to-BSN schedules upper-division coursework across fall, spring and summer, with admission GPA requirements assessed separately for nursing and general academics.

Navarro's 2026-27 RN-to-BSN catalog arranges upper-division coursework across fall, spring and summer. The complete bachelor's degree totals 120 credits and recognizes up to 36 nursing credits from prior ADN or diploma education and Texas licensure. That recognition contributes to the full degree, rather than representing new upper-division classes.

Admission assesses the academic record in two groups: prerequisite general academic courses need a minimum 2.0 GPA, while nursing coursework needs a 2.5 GPA. General academic prerequisites must be finished before the first class day. Applicants should therefore calculate the two GPA categories separately and resolve unfinished prerequisites before using the three-semester nursing plan as their start-to-finish schedule.

MSU Billings separates its 49-credit completion plan into 33 nursing credits and 16 corequisite credits.

The RN-to-BSN plan combines nursing courses with technical writing, statistics, developmental psychology, medical ethics and humanities. Previous coursework is evaluated at entry, so the 49-credit plan is not automatically the number of new credits every transfer student must take. Students must complete at least 30 credits at MSU Billings to graduate. Most courses use eight-week blocks, with a three-semester full-time plan and individualized part-time options.

All coursework is online, but leadership and community nursing include faculty-led, mentored clinical projects with hours in the student's community. Those courses require an unencumbered RN license. Concurrently enrolled associate-degree nursing students can take corequisites and most nursing courses before licensure; an RN license is required for graduation as well as the clinical-bearing courses. Rolling admission supports fall, spring and summer entry. The transfer review and license-dependent course sequence are useful starting points for building an individual schedule.

Nurses who are still enrolled in an accredited associate-degree nursing program at another institution may qualify for concurrent enrollment here rather than waiting until they graduate and are licensed.

Penn College's RN to B.S.N. completion degree runs 100% online, with classes delivered asynchronously through P.L.A.T.O., the college's own teaching platform, and no required campus visits. Coursework can be taken full time or part time and is taught by master's- and doctoral-prepared nurses. To be admitted, a registered nurse must be a graduate of an accredited associate-degree or diploma nursing program and submit to the Admissions office a copy of a current, active, unencumbered RN license from any state, with eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania. Nurses partway through an accredited associate-degree program elsewhere may instead be eligible for concurrent enrollment, which carries requirements beyond College admission. The baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and the most recent ACEN Board of Commissioners decision was continuing accreditation.

Everyone entering the major is treated as a transfer student, including graduates of Penn College's own associate degree. A block of 38 nursing credits transfers in from an accredited associate-degree or diploma curriculum, and at least 36 credits must be completed at Penn College in the coursework prescribed for the final four semesters, including required summer courses. Transferred courses need a grade of C (2.0) or better, and international health credentials, science courses and most math courses will not satisfy requirements of the major. Students in the major hold a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater and earn at least a C in every NUR, BIO and CHM course, where a C means 75 to 79.99 with no rounding of grades. Online students pay the in-state tuition rate regardless of residency, and current or prospective employees of partner organizations may be eligible for a tuition discount toward credits in select nursing programs.

The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences

Cincinnati, OH · Private nonprofit Fully online $17,325 annual in-state tuition 56% institutional graduation rate 183 degrees a year 60.9 score
Clinical work is arranged entirely by the student — finding the preceptor, setting the schedule, and completing the hours — with no fixed hour total, since the number varies by course and students may be able to use their current employer as the clinical site.

The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences runs its RN to BSN completion program fully online and asynchronously, with no pre-set class times. Full-time students finish in three semesters; a part-time plan spreads the same coursework across six. The curriculum is delivered in two modules per semester and includes Nursing Informatics, Introduction to Statistics, Professional Writing in the Health Sciences, Introduction to Research and EBP, Nursing Theories and Foundational Concepts, Wellness and Health Promotion, Population Health and Community-Based Nursing, Pathophysiology, Legal and Ethical Issues in Nursing, Caring for the Older Adult, Health Care Policy, Nursing Leadership and Management, and a one-credit Synthesis and Application of Professional Nursing course. The curriculum table totals 120 credits for the degree. Admission is on a rolling cycle, so students can start in the spring, summer, or fall.

To enroll, applicants need an active, unencumbered RN license in the state where they are employed, plus either an associate degree in nursing from an ACEN-accredited program with a 2.5 GPA or higher, or a diploma from an ACEN-accredited program or a State Board of Nursing approved hospital; students entering with a diploma may need extra courses to reach the minimum credit hours for a bachelor's degree. Applicants must also meet the program's technical standards, with reasonable accommodations where needed. Clinical components are tied to individual course content rather than done in a group, and the college puts the student in charge of securing a preceptor and scheduling the hours. Tuition runs about $250 per credit hour, which the college breaks out as $16,950 in tuition and $925 in program fees for one year of full-time study. The college describes those figures as approximate and subject to change. Employees of The Christ Hospital Health Network may qualify for full or partial tuition coverage. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the college notes its online courses follow Quality Matters standards.

Southern University and A&M College runs its RN to BSN entirely online, for nurses who are already licensed and want to add the bachelor's credential. The page describes the program as designed for nurses seeking to advance their career, and eligibility starts from a completed associate degree or diploma in nursing rather than from entry into the field. The baccalaureate nursing program at Southern University A&M College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The School of Nursing dates to 1985, and the school states it has educated more than 2,500 BSN graduates since then.

Admission turns on four things: an associate degree or diploma from a program accredited by ACEN or NLN CNEA, a permanent, active and unencumbered registered nurse license, a grade of C or better in all nursing and required prerequisite courses, and transcripts from every previous institution. Every prerequisite has to be finished before the program begins, and the school states directly that applicants whose associate degree or diploma came from a non-accredited nursing institution cannot enroll. Southern has built affiliation agreements with nine Louisiana associate degree programs, among them Baton Rouge Community College, Delgado Community College, Bossier Parish Community College and Southern University at Shreveport, to move academic credit into the BSN without gaps. Claflin is explicit that its two clinical courses are not hands-on: NURS 360 and NURS 440 bar patient care such as physical assessment and medication administration, requiring process-improvement, community-assessment and leadership work instead, at an agency the student identifies themselves.

Claflin University's RN to BSN is an online completion program for nurses who already hold an associate degree in nursing and an RN license. Courses are delivered 100% online in two 8-week sessions during the fall and spring semesters plus one 8-week summer session, and the 30 hours of upper-division nursing coursework can be completed full time in a single fall, spring and summer sequence - three terms. That sequence is ten courses, running from NURS 310 Role Transition through a NURS 450 Healthy Communities capstone that must be taken in the last semester, and all of them must be completed at Claflin. Around the nursing core the degree counts 60 semester hours of general education prerequisites, including human anatomy, human physiology, microbiology and statistics, plus 30 semester hours of associate-degree nursing courses. Part-time study plans are also available; the sample part-time plan on the page runs ten terms across about two years. New cohorts are admitted in both fall and spring.

Admission requires an earned associate degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution, an unencumbered RN license in the applicant's state of residence with a copy of licensure verification, official transcripts from all colleges attended, a grade of C or better in each course submitted for transfer, and a goals statement and resume. The page states no minimum GPA. Two courses carry clinical components - NURS 360 Community Health Nursing and NURS 440 Nursing Leadership - and the department is unusually direct that this clinical work should not include hands-on nursing care such as blood pressure measurement, physical assessment or medication administration. It focuses instead on the professional nurse role: evidence-based process improvement projects, group and community assessment, population-focused analysis, and leadership and collaboration within the health care team. Students select their own clinical agency and must file a Clinical Agency ID form naming it before the semester starts. No total number of clinical hours is stated. The baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Only 27 of the degree's 120 credit hours are UWA nursing coursework — the university accepts up to 96 transfer credits, and just two of those courses carry clinical hours, which students complete in their own communities.

The University of West Alabama delivers its RN to BSN fully online for nurses who already hold an active RN license and an associate degree in nursing. The degree totals a minimum of 120 credit hours, of which 27 are upper-division online nursing courses: Nursing Theory, Health Assessment, Concepts of the Professional Nursing Role, Evidence-Based Practice and Concepts of Nursing Research, Community/Public Health Nursing, Nursing Informatics, and Leadership in Professional Nursing Practice. Courses run 8 or 16 weeks and UWA estimates one year to finish. The transfer policy accepts up to 96 credits into the program, and for transfers out of ACEN-accredited associate programs a maximum of 40 associate degree nursing credit hours will apply. Students may enroll in 300- and 400-level nursing courses only after they have been accepted into the BSN program; exceptions go through the chair of the UWA Division of Nursing.

Admission requires an online application, graduation from an accredited school of nursing, official transcripts, completion of the general education prerequisite coursework with a minimum 2.5 GPA, and a current unencumbered RN license in the state where clinical practice hours will be completed. Two courses in the major require clinical hours, which the program says can be completed in the student's community. Undergraduate tuition is $325 per credit hour, with a $120 technology fee each semester and a course materials fee of $25.50 per credit hour. William Paterson combines a 30-credit nursing sequence with community assessment, healthcare economics and graduate-level course options.

The online RN-to-BSN has 27 core credits and a three-credit elective, delivered in seven-week courses. The school awards 30 credits for an RN license. Its transfer policy treats the university core as complete for qualifying AS, AAS or diploma applicants with 60 college credits; a statistics course is still needed if not already completed. This distinction matters when reviewing the advertised 10-month minimum: the nursing sequence and any remaining statistics requirement need to be considered together.

The curriculum moves beyond a survey of nursing topics. Students critique research and prepare an evidence-based practice proposal, work with community partners on a public-health assessment, and study the economics of healthcare delivery. Nursing Practice for RN-BSN includes experiences in public-health or community settings. Core courses also include advanced pathophysiology and population-health policy; the elective offers advanced-practice role or pharmacology study. These courses do not themselves confer an advanced-practice credential. Admission requires qualifying prior nursing education, an unencumbered RN license and at least a 2.5 overall GPA.

South College opens admission not only to nurses who already hold an unencumbered RN license but also to applicants in the process of becoming licensed, and handles the clinical component through a mix of virtual laboratory work and in-person experiences in community-based facilities near the student.

South College delivers its RN-BSN with 100% online classes and says the degree can be earned in as little as one year, depending on a student's prior academic background. Admission is open to registered nurses who show proof of a current unencumbered RN license, or who are in the process of becoming licensed as a registered nurse, and who hold an associate degree or diploma in nursing. Applicants must also meet South College's general admission requirements, and the college is explicit that general admission does not by itself guarantee admission to the nursing program. One or more major cohorts begin each year depending on enrollment, and application deadlines are held by the School of Nursing and the Admissions Department.

Coursework builds on a working nurse's existing experience, deepening critical thinking, evidence-based care, research and leadership skills, with instruction in specialized fields including informatics and community nursing. The clinical component combines virtual laboratory work with in-person clinical experiences in community-based facilities convenient to the student's location; South College is an approved SARA institution, and SARA covers interstate clinical and practical placements among member states. Students who want to keep going are told to talk with an advisor about direct acceptance into the university's MSN programs after they finish the BSN.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Governors State lists B.S.N. course tuition at $13,724 and estimated fees at $6,184, an estimated $19,908 total at 2025-2026 rates. Two awards cut into that: the Will County HEROES Grant at -$7,500 across three semesters and the AIM HIGH Scholarship at up to -$7,500 for full-time students, bringing the stated out-of-pocket figure to $4,908. The Greer Nursing Scholars Program is separate and is restricted to RN-BSN transfer students, offering a renewable scholarship of up to $5,000 per year, or $2,500 per semester, based on financial need. Greer Scholars meet with a dedicated nursing advisor once a month and take part in professional development, a nursing town hall, and interprofessional community health events alongside occupational therapy and physical therapy students.

    Thomas University

Thomasville, GA · Private nonprofit Fully online $11,400 annual in-state tuition 28% institutional graduation rate 13 degrees a year 53.8 score
Eight-week online classes support an RN-to-BSN plan as short as 12 months.

Thomas University's RN-BSN uses eight-week online classes, with completion possible in as little as 12 months. Regional healthcare partnerships support precepted clinical experiences, with scheduling arranged around the student and preceptor. The online course format therefore sits alongside a practice schedule that needs separate coordination.

Applicants need an associate nursing degree or diploma and at least a 2.5 GPA. Recent graduates may qualify for conditional entry before RN licensure, but must obtain an unrestricted RN license before progressing into practicum coursework. That distinction is especially important for a student moving straight from an associate program: conditional admission allows a start, not permission to complete the clinical sequence without licensure.

    Waynesburg University

Waynesburg, PA · Private nonprofit Fully online $28,960 annual in-state tuition 66% institutional graduation rate 56 degrees a year 53.1 score
Waynesburg holds articulation agreements with five named Pennsylvania associate-degree and diploma nursing schools whose graduates are automatically admissible and may transfer up to 91 credits toward the BSN.

Waynesburg University's RN to BSN is a 33-39 credit completion program delivered 100% online at $400 per credit. Students choose a full-time or part-time schedule, and full-time students finish in 12 to 16 months. The credit load is low because the program is built around transfer: an incoming student brings 85 credits from an associate degree or diploma credential together with a current RN license, and prior coursework in Statistics and Ethics can transfer an additional six credits.

Graduates of Butler County Community College, the Community College of Allegheny County, the Community College of Beaver County, Westmoreland County Community College, and the UPMC Schools of Nursing (Mercy, Shadyside, and St. Margaret) are covered by articulation agreements: they are automatically admissible once they meet the University's admission requirements and hold RN licensure, and they may transfer up to 91 credits. Nurses who already hold a bachelor's degree in another field can instead pursue the BSN as a second degree, a 27-33 credit online route with the same 12-to-16-month timeline. The baccalaureate program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and Waynesburg participates in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements.

Coursework is delivered fully online and asynchronously at a flat $375 per semester hour, with scholarships reserved for graduates of University of Mobile's own Associate Degree in Nursing program.

University of Mobile's Bachelor of Science in Nursing – RN to BSN is aimed at nurses who already hold a license and want to add the bachelor's credential. The School of Nursing runs the program online and asynchronously, a structure the university describes as letting students continue with family and work schedules while advancing their education. A program update on the page sets tuition at $375 per semester hour and notes that special scholarships are available to graduates of the university's own Associate Degree in Nursing program. Faculty are described as experienced health care professionals and educators who mentor students, and the curriculum is positioned to prepare graduates to pursue master's and doctoral degrees.

Admission turns on an unencumbered RN license in the state where the applicant practices and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 across all academic coursework. Applicants submit an application, official transcripts from every institution attended, a clear background check and drug screen, health history and immunization records, proof of BLS Healthcare Provider certification, and evidence of current personal health insurance; the School of Nursing's Undergraduate Admissions Committee may request a personal interview. Applicants with international transcripts need a CGFNS evaluation for prior nursing coursework, a World Education Services evaluation for non-nursing coursework, and TOEFL scores sent directly to Enrollment Services. Prerequisites total 61 credit hours: 15 in humanities and fine arts including two composition courses, 18 in natural and applied science including one basic statistics course, 18 in social sciences and behavioral studies, six in Christian studies, and four electives.

    University of Phoenix-Arizona

Phoenix, AZ · Private for-profit Online $9,552 annual in-state tuition 21% institutional graduation rate 535 degrees a year 52.4 score
    Phoenix's standard RN-to-BSN includes two public-health courses with 45 direct-care hours each.

The standard completion track has 33 core credits within a 120-credit degree. Its published transfer model uses 87 incoming credits, so the remaining coursework depends on an individual transcript evaluation. The standard route uses one five-week course at a time with faculty-led instruction. It is distinct from the university's competency-based RN-to-BSN option, which has a different pace and learning structure.

Online instruction is paired with 90 direct-care clinical hours: 45 in Promoting Healthy Communities and 45 in Public Health: Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Students can complete those hours in their own community, with a clinical coordinator supporting site and preceptor selection. Other courses address health information technology, finance and policy, research interpretation, and quality improvement. The senior leadership practicum brings the nursing coursework together in a final leadership project. An active, unencumbered RN license is required before enrollment in this post-licensure pathway.

Saint Joseph's pairs mostly seven-week online classes with a 30-hour service-learning project at a community agency the student chooses.

Saint Joseph's Lancaster RN-to-BSN pathway is for licensed RNs with an associate nursing degree. Students may transfer up to 75 credits. The planned schedule is 24 months, with timing dependent on previous coursework and the student's goals. Classes are online, and most run in seven-week blocks.

A 30-hour service-learning project takes place at a community agency chosen by the student. This gives the applied component a community-service focus and a defined time commitment. WVU Parkersburg separates college admission from nursing admission and allows a defined conditional-entry route.

The online completion program accepts nursing diploma and associate-degree graduates with an unencumbered RN license and a 2.0 cumulative college GPA. You apply to both the college and Nursing and Health Sciences. Applications are reviewed year-round, but enrollment is limited, so college admission alone does not secure a nursing place.

Recent graduates may receive conditional permission for NURS 311 and NURS 320, with licensure required before completing those courses. The degree requires 120 credits overall and at least 30 at WVU Parkersburg. Nursing coursework must finish within five years, and general education must be completed before or alongside NURS 452. Andrews awards up to 30 credits toward the degree for passing the NCLEX, part of a transfer allowance of as many as 92 credits that leaves a 32-credit nursing core to finish online.

Andrews University's School of Nursing offers the RN-to-BSN as a fully online completion program for registered nurses who already hold an associate degree in nursing. The nursing core is 32 credits, and the school transfers in as many as 92 credits from prior coursework, including up to 30 credits awarded for passing the NCLEX. What remains after a transcript evaluation varies by student, since general education requirements are set from the individual transcript. Courses run asynchronously, one or two at a time, generally in eight-week segments with short breaks between them, so nurses can keep working while they enroll. Students finish in as few as three semesters or spread the work across six, which the school describes as 12, 16, or 24 months. Admission is rolling, with entry points in August, January, and May.

Applicants need an active RN license, a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, current AHA BLS healthcare provider CPR certification, official high school and RN transcripts, a clear criminal background check and drug screen, and current immunizations. Because the program includes practicum experiences, applications are open to nurses in the states where Andrews has permission to offer them; the school publishes that list in its general licensure disclosure. Tuition is $510 per credit, with a $30 application fee, a $150 professional fee and a $172 distance fee each semester, and roughly $200 per class in textbooks. Nurses who graduated from partner institutions with an MOU, among them Lake Michigan College, Oakland Community College, and Southwestern Michigan College, pay a discounted rate if they enroll within 36 months of passing the NCLEX. The program is approved and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

Webster builds an individual completion plan around each RN’s transfer credits and schedule.

Webster's RN-to-BSN runs fully online in eight-week terms. Its curriculum emphasizes holistic health and the social conditions affecting patient health, giving the completion work a focus beyond individual bedside tasks. Consider whether that emphasis matches the kinds of community or organizational issues you want to study.

The university describes roughly one to one-and-a-half years for full-time study and two to two-and-a-half years part time, depending on the credits you still need. An individual transfer review is therefore central to comparing the two routes. Have the remaining requirements mapped into the eight-week calendar before choosing a pace, especially if you expect to change your course load around work commitments.

Rio Grande’s online RN-to-BSN includes nursing informatics and a six-credit community health course.

Rio Grande's online RN-to-BSN has a 36-credit nursing major inside a 120-credit degree that includes prior nursing work. You can enroll full or part time. The curriculum includes nursing informatics and a six-credit community-health course, extending the program beyond a repeat of bedside nursing preparation.

Pathophysiology and statistics matter to the course order. The catalog encourages you to finish them before starting: pathophysiology precedes clinical decision-making, while statistics is required for nursing research. A transfer review should therefore check where those prerequisites land, not just count the credits accepted. The RN-entry requirement accepts a valid license in any state; review the nursing sequence with an advisor when choosing your pace.

Wilson awards 34 credits for a valid nursing license and accepts up to 38 more from earlier coursework, leaving at least 48 credits to complete through Wilson.

Wilson's transfer structure distinguishes nursing-license credit from earlier coursework. A valid RN license earns 34 credits, and up to 38 additional credits may transfer. Students complete at least 48 credits through Wilson. The published minimum completion time is 18 months, with an individual transcript review determining the remaining requirements.

Coursework is fully online and asynchronous, with no set class times, and the program states that no clinicals are required. Admission normally calls for at least a 2.5 GPA; lower GPAs may receive individual review. Lubbock Christian plans its RN-to-BSN nursing sequence across two to three semesters and allows university core courses to be taken alongside RN coursework. The pathway accepts licensed RNs who graduated from associate-degree or diploma nursing programs. Completing the nursing sequence and completing every core requirement are related but separate parts of the degree plan.

The curriculum combines nursing knowledge with religion, science and the humanities. Leadership and culturally appropriate care extend across community and clinical settings. Three of the nine core nursing courses are graduate-level, carrying 10 credits into Campbellsville's own MSN, so the completion degree doubles as a head start on a master's.

Campbellsville University Online builds its RN to BSN around nine core nursing courses worth 30 credit hours, taught 100% online in 8-week terms with six start dates a year. The page lists an estimated length of 10 to 12 months and says students can finish in as few as 10 months, with both completion time and total credits depending on how much transfer work is accepted; a maximum of 90 credits can transfer in from an accredited institution. Tuition runs $360 per credit hour, and the page states the degree can be earned for under $11,000. There is no application fee and no required travel to campus, and students complete the capstone course locally.

Admission assumes a working nurse: applicants must have finished an associate degree or diploma program for registered nursing and hold a current, unencumbered license to practice in their state of residence, though nurses still enrolled in an ADN program or in the process of getting licensed are invited to apply. The application asks for official transcripts from every college attended, a copy of an active RN license, and a high school transcript from anyone transferring fewer than 24 credit hours. Coursework covers gerontology, community health, transcultural nursing and nursing informatics, with one guided elective chosen from contemporary healthcare management, health economics or financial management in healthcare. Three of the nine core courses are graduate level and transfer into the Campbellsville MSN. The baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and the university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

St. Catherine's RN-BSN catalog separates 22 credits of coursework from eight credits awarded for the NCLEX.

The RN-BSN completion section is for registered nurses. Before starting upper-division nursing courses, students need 82 completed semester credits, a current unencumbered RN license and a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA calculated across coursework completed within the past 10 years. Nursing courses require grades of C or better. The catalog also lists CPR certification, immunizations and a background study among the entry requirements.

The four-term sample plans combine holistic nursing and population health with leadership, biostatistics, evidence-based practice and informatics. Several courses also count toward the MSN, but this remains the bachelor's completion plan. Eight credits for the NCLEX appear on the transcript at admission; they are not eight credits of new classes. The sample sequence excludes additional core requirements, and a prior-learning portfolio or extra course may be needed to meet residency rules. Licensed RNs and eligible students in approved ADN programs may apply. Clinical work requires an active RN license in the state where the practicum takes place. The license, agency agreement and preceptor are therefore linked to the selected practice location rather than just the university's home state. Online lectures provide flexibility, but those local arrangements remain essential parts of the completion plan.

    Houston Christian University

Houston, TX · Private nonprofit Fully online $36,750 annual in-state tuition 49% institutional graduation rate 48 degrees a year 36.4 score
Houston Christian awards the BSN after undergraduate coursework and two bridge courses, with the option to stop at the bachelor's degree or continue to an MSN.

Houston Christian's pathway permits a BSN-only exit before optional continuation to the MSN. The undergraduate nursing portion includes seven courses totaling 24 credits in eight-week online terms. Two bridge courses add six credits and run for 16 weeks before the bachelor's award.

This structure matters for comparing timelines: the bridge courses do not follow the same eight-week schedule as the BSN nursing classes. Required general education must also be satisfied. Entry is for RNs with an accredited ADN, an unencumbered license and at least one year of professional nursing experience. The combined pathway's full graduate requirements should not be presented as the requirements for the bachelor's exit alone.

Philadelphia, PA · Private nonprofit Fully online, asynchronous $46,175 annual in-state tuition 69% institutional graduation rate 232 degrees a year 35.9 score
Jefferson organizes its RN-to-BSN around 30 upper-division credits in eight-week sessions, with asynchronous coursework and credit awarded for an RN license.

Jefferson's RN-to-BSN combines 30 upper-division credits with 30 professional-credential credits for an RN license and 60 prerequisite/general education credits. The online classes are asynchronous, with no set login times, and use eight-week sessions. Fall, spring and summer entry points support different starting schedules.

The upper-division curriculum reaches across disciplines: health informatics, research methods, public health and epidemiology, biostatistics, determinants of health, and systems-based preparedness sit alongside nursing transition and assessment. The capstone project includes a 45-hour practicum with a leadership or community focus. Those practice hours remain distinct from the asynchronous classes. Jefferson does not accept AP or CLEP credit for science prerequisites.

Valparaiso, IN · Private nonprofit Fully online $46,940 annual in-state tuition 70% institutional graduation rate 112 degrees a year 35.5 score
Valparaiso’s online RN-to-BSN pairs a 16-month study plan with credit recognition for prior nursing education.

Valparaiso's online plan takes 16 months after prerequisites and does not require campus visits. Entry is for RNs with accredited prior nursing education, an active unencumbered license and a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Statistics, nutrition and laboratory sciences belong before the nursing sequence, so review those courses when deciding which start date is realistic.

The first nursing course is NUR 275, a four-credit transition into baccalaureate study. Prior nursing credits are recorded only after you complete that course and receive dean approval. That makes the credit-recognition step part of the plan, not an automatic award on application. Later courses cover research, public health, leadership and healthcare ethics.

Pfeiffer's 52-credit nursing major is split between 26 nursing-core course credits and 26 credits for nursing experience. That distinction matters when comparing the major with another RN-to-BSN: the headline does not mean you will take 52 credits of new nursing classes. The program itself is fully online.

Moravian's online RN-to-BSN builds a 120-credit degree from nursing coursework, general education, prior study and RN licensure, with a separate pathway for St. Luke's nursing students.

Moravian's online RN-to-BSN offers rolling admission and starts every eight weeks. The curriculum emphasizes professional leadership, evidence-based practice and community health, with a telehealth clinical experience organized by the university. Clinical learning is therefore included even though the program is delivered online.

The 120-credit bachelor's degree brings together nursing-major courses, general education, cognates, prior study, RN licensure and electives. Applicants submit an online application, official college transcripts and their RN license. A separate pathway serves St. Luke's School of Nursing students. The RN-to-BSN option pairs 21 nursing credits with nine supporting-course credits.

Thomas More's RN-to-BSN catalog plan includes 21 nursing credits and nine supporting-course credits. Applicants must bring at least 60 transfer credits. That entry minimum is distinct from the completion-course requirements, so an individual transcript review remains important even for an experienced RN.

Admission requires an accredited associate nursing degree with a 2.5 GPA, plus an unencumbered Kentucky or multistate compact RN license. Prerequisites need grades of C or higher. The nursing sequence includes practicum courses, making the practice schedule another part of degree planning alongside the supporting courses. • Coker University

    Hartsville, SC · Private nonprofit
Coker's RN-to-BSN pairs clinical concepts with a professional portfolio and coursework on health equity.

Coker's completion curriculum is organized as 30 semester hours over four semesters, with additional general education determined by transcript review. The required transfer subjects include anatomy and physiology, microbiology, human development, statistics, writing, speech, and arts and humanities. That review establishes how prior nursing education fits the degree before the remaining schedule is set.

The RN-specific course list gives six credits each to Clinical Concepts and Professional Portfolio and Standards of Practice. Other courses address leadership, research, global and community health, informatics, contemporary healthcare issues and health equity. The portfolio makes professional development an explicit part of the curriculum alongside clinical study. Progression requires at least a C in required science and nursing courses; a lower grade requires repeating the course.

The RN-specific assessment course includes a health history, physical assessment and teaching plan with an adult volunteer; digital simulations supplement that direct experience.

Teaching and Learning requires 20 practice hours, Community Health Nursing requires 45, and the capstone includes 45 hours of direct practice. Those figures describe named courses, not the full program's combined practice total. • Galveston College

    Galveston, TX · Public Online
Galveston's fall and spring RN-to-BSN plans have different core-course prerequisites and completion schedules.

The fall-start plan takes two semesters and requires both prerequisites and the core curriculum to be complete. The spring-start plan takes three semesters, requires prerequisites at entry and allows the remaining core curriculum during BSN study. Both contain 30 nursing credits within a 120-credit degree. Courses include vulnerable populations, public and global health policy, research, and leadership.

Coursework is online, with one face-to-face orientation. Preceptor-led clinical hours may be completed at the student's current nursing workplace. Admission requires a qualifying ADN, a minimum 2.8 GPA calculated on BSN-required coursework, active employment as an RN or graduate nurse, and two professional references. An ADN graduate entering before attempting the NCLEX must pass it by the end of the first eight-week semester. The entry term, core-course status and licensure deadline therefore need to line up.

The 2026-27 RN-to-BS planner identifies 26 upper-division nursing credits within a minimum 120-credit degree. Qualifying prior nursing education earns 35 advanced-placement credits after registration for the first nursing course. Individual transcript evaluation determines the remaining King's core requirements. Students who already hold a bachelor's degree need additional electives to meet the college's 30-credit residency minimum.

The completion plan includes a community-health clinical course focused on primary care and leadership, as well as three graduate credits that may apply toward an MSN. The RN handbook permits provisional entry for students below the full-admission GPA or awaiting licensure. To gain full admission, those students need RN licensure and B grades in the first two nursing courses, NSG 300 and NSG 304. Full admission and continued enrollment require at least a 2.0 GPA.

Lakeland's RN-to-BSN connects nursing informatics, policy and quality improvement with an interdisciplinary-care focus.

The completion program is for licensed registered nurses with an associate nursing degree. Up to 90 credits may transfer, and a fully online delivery option is available. The university also lists Wisconsin center locations and other participation formats, so the online option should be identified when building a course schedule.

The program's outcomes place particular attention on how systems affect bedside care. Students examine information-management tools and patient-care technology, consider the influence of policy and regulation, and use research to support professional practice. Communication across disciplines and population-health collaboration sit alongside ethical accountability. Applicants submit official college transcripts for evaluation; the transfer cap alone does not determine the requirements an individual RN has left.

Las Vegas College's online completion curriculum emphasizes bioethics, community nursing and complex health needs.

The RN-to-BSN is intended for licensed registered nurses who have already completed an associate nursing degree. The college describes a fully online program that can be completed in as few as 15 months. It builds on prior nursing knowledge rather than serving as the route to an initial RN license.

The curriculum focuses on leadership, health assessment, nursing research and bioethics, with attention to complex acute and chronic health problems. Its learning outcomes connect technology with patient treatment and follow-up, and health policy with access, equity and reimbursement. That combination gives students a systems-level view alongside community nursing and direct-care reasoning. Nursing study includes practicum work, while the coursework has no set class meeting times. Its learning outcomes connect evidence-based practice with quality improvement, leadership and communication across care teams.

The curriculum combines the usual bachelor's nursing framework with self-reflection, self-care, healing presence and relationship-centered care. Students study how complementary approaches can fit into nursing practice and how care addresses both individual and collective health. This emphasis gives the program a defined educational perspective rather than making holistic nursing an isolated elective.

Coursework is fully online, with most courses lasting eight weeks and completion possible in as little as 15 months. A required clinical component can be completed in the student's home community. The online RN-to-BSN can be completed part time in as few as five semesters. All nursing courses use a seven-week format, with clinicals integrated into assignments. The curriculum builds on RN experience and addresses leadership of quality-care initiatives. A&M-Central Texas is an upper-level university, so supporting lower-division requirements are completed elsewhere.

The RN-to-BSN offers online full-time and part-time study, with completion possible in one calendar year. Many classes are capped at 20 students, and students can meet faculty on campus if needed. Core curriculum, general education and non-nursing courses are taken at another institution because A&M-Central Texas provides upper-level instruction.

Nursing admission is separate from university admission. Applicants need an unencumbered Texas or compact-state RN license and grades of C or better in courses leading to the BSN, subject to the program's state-enrollment restrictions. Eligible final-year community-college nursing students may enter conditionally and take NURS 3300 and NURS 3317, but need the ADN and RN license for full admission and further progression. Transfer students must complete at least 30 credits at A&M-Central Texas. An individual education plan coordinates those requirements.

Florida Keys pairs eight-week online nursing courses with leadership and community-health field experience.

CFK's RN-to-BSN follows a two-plus-two model for licensed RNs with an associate nursing degree. Its completion requirements include 33 nursing credits and 27 general education credits. Students who have already finished the required general education can complete the bachelor's degree in as little as one year. Five annual starts and a choice of course load provide several ways to enter the sequence.

The curriculum includes assessment, pathophysiology and pharmacology, cultural health issues, research and nursing informatics. Community nursing and leadership each have a practicum, so online coursework is paired with field experience. Listed elective areas include gerontology and complementary therapies. Students must maintain a clear, active nursing license throughout the program. • Truckee Meadows Community College

    Reno, NV · Public Online
Truckee Meadows' online RN-to-BSN includes two capstone experiences and a population-care sequence.

The 2026-27 catalog describes a 12-month completion program taught in eight-week blocks. Students must earn 120 total units, including 30 upper-division units at TMCC. Prior learning and transfer credit contribute to the degree, so the sample incoming-credit allowance is not a guarantee for every applicant.

The sequence begins with transition to baccalaureate practice and includes biostatistics, holistic assessment, research, quality and safety, clinical judgment, leadership and health technology. Population Care Theory precedes the Population Care Capstone in the recommended schedule. The program requires two capstone experiences despite its online format. Admission to nursing is separate from admission to the college and requires an ADN plus an active RN license in the state of practice when coursework begins. A 2.0 cumulative GPA is a graduation requirement.

  • United States University

San Diego, CA · Private for-profit Fully online
United States University pairs a caring-science foundation with community practice and an evidence-based capstone.

The RN-to-BSN is designed for associate-degree or diploma-prepared registered nurses. Its nursing framework draws on Jean Watson's caring-science theory, while courses address healthcare finance, system change, interprofessional communication and patient-care technology. The program describes an approximately 12-month completion path within a 120-credit bachelor's degree; the degree total is not a claim that students take 120 new credits.

Online study includes a 90-hour community/practice requirement. Global and Community-Based Nursing requires 45 hours with an agency or organization leader near the student, and the capstone requires another 45 practice hours. For the capstone, students analyze a nursing issue, develop evidence-based interventions and present their work through a poster or podium format, including a virtual option. Tennessee residents must complete an additional physical-examination and health-assessment course or transfer an equivalent course.

  • University of Pittsburgh-Bradford

Bradford, PA · Public Online, asynchronous
Pitt-Bradford offers asynchronous RN-BSN coursework with both full-time and part-time enrollment.

The online RN-BSN allows working registered nurses to choose a full-time or part-time course load. Asynchronous coursework includes discussion and small-group activities, so studying on an individual schedule still involves interaction with faculty and classmates. Personalized advising supports academic planning.

The program also includes clinical experiences and describes hands-on learning in hospitals, doctors' offices and community-health settings. Its online format applies to the coursework, not a promise that every practice activity takes place remotely. That combination makes the distinction between study pace and clinical scheduling important for an employed RN. The program's information-request process identifies a fall-term start for the online pathway.

  • Upstate Medical University

    Syracuse, NY · Public Online
SUNY Upstate combines nursing and arts-and-sciences coursework with a precepted clinical-project capstone.

The current RN-to-BS plan contains 61 upper-division credits: 31 nursing and 30 arts-and-sciences credits. Combined with 60 earlier credits, these form a 121-credit degree, with at least 30 credits earned at Upstate. Published options include four- and seven-semester plans. Courses are online, but the schedule mixes eight-week and 16-week subjects rather than using one course length throughout.

The curriculum gives patient education, healthcare politics, social justice and epidemiology distinct places in the program. In community health, students assess a community need and plan evidence-based interventions. The capstone includes a precepted clinical project and presentations. Applicants need qualifying associate nursing preparation, a 2.5 cumulative GPA, C grades or better in prerequisites, current CPR certification and an unencumbered U.S. RN license. The program does not impose an age limit on courses used to fulfill admission requirements.

    • 30-credit Upstate residency minimum
    • Four- and seven-semester plans among the options
    • Eight- and 16-week courses

  • Virginia State University

    Petersburg, VA · Public Online
Virginia State's part-time RN-to-BSN takes one three-credit course at a time across five semesters.

The online completion program requires 30 upper-level nursing credits at Virginia State, with up to 90 credits brought in from prior education toward the 120-credit BSN. Students take one course every eight weeks, completing six credits per semester. The part-time structure provides a defined pace rather than a self-directed acceleration model.

Population and Global Health and Leadership and Healthcare Management each include a practicum. The leadership course follows the earlier population-health and other advanced nursing work. The sequence also covers assessment, research, informatics, policy and financial management of healthcare delivery. Evidence-based practice has its own prerequisite group, so the order of the courses matters alongside the one-course-at-a-time schedule. Prior associate-degree or hospital-diploma nursing preparation is included in the degree structure.

How Online RN to BSN Coursework Fits Around Work

An online course can give you control over study time while keeping weekly deadlines or scheduled meetings. Compare the actual attendance requirements with your shift pattern, including orientation, presentations and exams. The RN to BSN completion-time guide also explains how course load changes your study plan.

Clinical work needs its own space on your calendar. For example, UF's RN to BSN curriculum splits 90 hours between virtual health-assessment simulations and an independent community experience. Online coursework does not make that community commitment disappear.

  • Ask which activities require attendance at a specific time.
  • Check the courses and weekly workload in the advertised completion plan.
  • Confirm who arranges practice placements and whether your employer can be a site.
  • Ask how a reduced course load changes the sequence and graduation date.

Compare Online RN to BSN Cost and Transfer Credit

The ranked online programs have a median annual in-state tuition of $8,811, with figures ranging from $1,620 to $51,569. Those IPEDS figures describe the institution. Your completion-track cost depends on the credits you still need and the tuition rate and fees that apply to your enrollment.

Ask for a written transfer evaluation and a course-by-course plan before comparing price quotes. Separate nursing-major credits from general education, prerequisites and any university residency requirement. Then ask whether an online rate or your state of residence changes the bill.

For a program-specific example, Riverside's RN-to-BSN page distinguishes credits granted for prior nursing preparation from coursework completed at Riverside, and lists tuition and other expenses separately. Use that kind of breakdown when comparing your options.

Where You Can Enroll in an Online RN to BSN Program

Start with your home address, RN license and intended practice location. Ask the university to confirm that it can enroll you and approve any required practice experience where you plan to complete it. If you're considering a move, include the destination state in that conversation.

NC-SARA's student resources explain distance-education authorization and consumer protections. A school's participation in SARA is not a substitute for checking the RN-to-BSN track's own admission requirements.
