RN to BSN Analysis From the Program Data
The rankings on this site compare 290 RN-to-BSN completion programs on what they cost and how their institutions graduate students. The guides take the three questions that comparison cannot answer. These posts are the third thing: what falls out of the dataset itself once 1,112 federal records have been read one at a time.
One test decides what gets written here. Could someone produce this post without having built this dataset or checked this claim? If the answer is yes, it is a commodity article and it does not belong on the site. So there is nothing here explaining what a BSN is, and everything here rests on a count, a distribution or a specific correction.

How Many RN to BSN Programs Are There?
The federal file lists 1,112 bachelor's nursing programs under a single code. 362 are confirmed completion tracks a licensed nurse can actually enroll in, and 290 of those carry enough data to be scored — the count by state, by control, and why the honest number is the smaller one.

What New York's BSN in 10 Law Requires
The only US law requiring a BSN binds one state's nurses, licensed after one date, on a ten-year clock counted from their own licensure. What it says, who it grandfathers, and why the 80% figure cited alongside it was a recommendation rather than a rule.

Public or Private: What the RN to BSN Price Gap Buys
Private nonprofit programs cost about $24,000 a year more than public ones at the median. Correlating price against institutional graduation rate across the 290 ranked programs shows what that difference is actually associated with, which turns out to be very little.

Where These Posts Come From
Everything published here is counted or computed at build time from the same modules the rankings run on, which means a post cannot claim a figure the data no longer supports. When the dataset is rebuilt, the sentences change with it.
That constraint is why the posts read the way they do. A census that had to be counted rather than asserted arrives at a smaller number than the federal file implies and has to explain the difference. A correlation that has to be calculated rather than assumed sometimes comes back weak, and a weak result is the finding rather than a reason to find a different one. And a claim about a law gets held to what the statute says about who it binds, which turns out to be a much narrower group than the way it is usually repeated.
